I'm watching my roof go up.:) It's a metal one and a completely different color from the original, so it's pretty neat to see the progress.

I haven't done it that close but I've done the long weekend version. Take the Thursday night flight which gives you Friday, Saturday, and depending on the flight, maybe part of Sunday if it's something like a VS 001.

My need for connection is a bit of a time waster, but one of these days, I have to take advantage of some of the good fares that pop up.

Not sure what his flight # is but he was going IAH-ONT.

We companioned upgraded a nice looking couple that was continuing onto Los Cabos and the GA at LGA told them their flight was oversold by 27.

I appear to have pulled a majorly-bone-headed lapse in judgment..

I need Euros in France, I forgot to call my banks until today to let them know i'd be traveling, and my general accounts will be processed to accept European transactions sometimes Monday morning EST. Looks like I'm gonna have to bite the bullet and use an exchange at TPA or EWR before I leave just to have some pocket cash until my accounts are ready.

Any suggestions on that front?

Absolutely. Do not bother getting the Euros in the States but just go to the first ATM that you see in the airport when you arrive. Even with a nominal ATM fee, you will get a good exchange rate and exactly the amount that you need to start out with.

The issue may be that the bank blocks non US ATM access, that IS the best route but I know my bank blocks it unless you call and inform them it is needed.
I have given them authorization to leave a standing worldwide access to mine.

Going to rest for 35 more minutes. I ventured out into philly a bit this morning, it is interesting driving on these tram tracks in the roads, they DON'T have that process down, it is bumpier than a Louisiana road which is saying something. They need to go to Switzerland and learn how to make this work.

That's the issue - my main bank is a credit union, so they do next to nothing on weekends and i called today to let them know I was traveling.

Good news - I have access to normal funds (not credit cards with yucky interest rates) via another bank since my family decided to give me a joint account for this trip so I can buy my way out of a torture-hostel or something if needed. I'll just write my folks a check today and take out funds when i arrive. That account should have been set up for foreign transactions the day it was created - i recall having to fill out a form.

Checked in! "This is not a boarding pass" no .... sherlock - it's barely a webpage! It does however have that lovely Elite Acess logo prominently at the top. :)

The 26 hour run to Europe is great. It is even better if you go to a city where there is an all-sight party option, such as Hamburg. I basically just kept going right on through to getting back on the plane in HAM for the return flight, at which point I crashed hard and slept pretty much the whole way home.
