I know at least one interested party in the Woodford Reserve stock. Wouldn't help with FT handles, but we could just group all the people with the same first name to make conversation easier.

Should the pclub in LGA be able to add someone as my gold companion for a connecting flight out of IAH or is that strictly done at the departure point (IAH)?

I've had a promo upgrade clear for a CLE flight in PHL. If I can get that done, there's no reason you can't get a companion added as long as you're within the time window.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! We have real cause to celebrate tomorrow!

Thanks! Indeed we do. There's the matter of the job and that you will meet my lovely fiancee, finally. You two could easily go off in a corner for the night, IMO...there is much similarity.

We really liked the courtyard at The Addison and the food was fairly good but, apparently, not good enough. They have closed as a restaurant and now only cater to events. If you family has taken the place for the evening, take your wife out in the courtyard to sit under the large banyan tree, or better yet, get a table out there. On Saturday nights there used to be live music and dancing in that courtyard.

I have not been to many Cuban restaurants north of South Broward. The absolute best are on Calle Ocho which we try to hit when we need to use MIA instead of FLL or PBI. The best ethnics in PB county aside from Italian (does anybody still consider that to be "ethnic food?") are Asian fusion. But there are a few pretty good (but high end) steak and also seafood places (although the stone crabs are now out of season). But do not look for the "gourmet experience" because it is just not there.

Should be fine, I do it all the time.

I didnt even think about it but next time you fly out of LGA you should stay at my place and we can go out the night before.

I like that movie, probably too much for it to be healthy.

Then the fact that Toy Story 3 in 3D is coming out (Christmas?) this year must be a source of great :D.

Maybe I linked the wrong place. My mother will follow up with it tomorrow, as she is talking to the Florida contingent in the morning. I know for sure that we did not book an event; there's only 5 or 6 of us.

I'm pretty easy foodwise and my fiancee has, to put it charitably, a palate that is not terribly adventurous. I'm amazed that I got her to eat teppanyaki/hibachi at all, and further shocked that she said she would come tomorrow night and eat it again.

On the way home from BZE we headed to Calle Ocho and had a rather enjoyable meal at Versailles and then headed down to the "real" Ocho and sat out at a cafe while the missus had here cafe con leche and we just relaxed. It was a much better way to spend the layover than stuck in the feces-hole that is MIA. Sure, the Cubano that I had was ridiculously expensive when the cost of the rental car is included, but it was way better than sitting in the airport.

I also got to practice the wee bit of Spanish I speak. That is always fun and particularly embarrassing to my wife because she doesn't think I'm anywhere close to conversant but I generally get what we need. It was more entertaining when I was translating on the AA flight MIA-JFK and we were probably the only native English speakers on the plane, other than the FAs.

Uh oh. That is what I get for repeating some hearsay. :o
It looks on the website that it still is functioning as a restaurant. You will like it but make sure (unless it is too hot) to sit in that courtyard.

^ ^ That is exactly how to spend a long layover at MIA.

Oooohhhh...I didn't know that. Now there is much :D in the small, simple brain of sbm12. Oh, and plenty of booze. Perhaps it is time to go sleep it off. G'night all. Looking forward to seeing many of you tomorrow.

Coming back from PTY, I was still speaking Spanish (with a slight drawl, of course) on the plane and at Immigration ...
