I am finding a KE flight out of IAD. KE94/KE607 at the 60K level.

From what I have read, it sounds like many people prefer the KE seat over the NW seat. Personally, I decided to fly KE on the outbound and NW on the return to try both products.

Did you find reward seats to IAD? On CO, you'd be on either an RJ or a Q200 which would be enough for me to pick NW out of ATL.

I did not search for rewards to IAD yet. I did not know they don't fly any mainline jets from EWR there.

Maybe I will try the NW/DL 777 from JFK-NRT-HKG and then take KE HKG-ICN-IAD-EWR back. I just don't like that 12:50 am departure, but I need to be back earlier in the day so that might be the best option.

Woot woot woot. And no one planned a DO around this major anniversary? We're slacking off here.

You'd base long haul reward travel on a 40min RJ hop?

No, there is obviously more to it than that. Assuming schedules, hard/soft products and mileage requirements were all equal (or close to it), then yes, I probably would base my selection on a 40 min RJ/Q2 hop. Especially when the RJ hop is between EWR and IAD...

+1. The Denver area is really good for that - I was seriously tempted to try and do a few additional nights this upcoming week, but will have to do with just one (Westin Tabor Center)

Denver seems well suited for mattress runs with pretty much every hotel company.

That's a bit harsh. I can name at least a dozen, if not more, that suck far more than either of those.

Ever spent a week in Toledo?

I think we need to qualify the term "city".

We will stay on the Canadian side. I'm considering a B&B rather than a hotel.

Get there early, give them a tour around the Falls, and then keep right on going about a half hour to Niagara-on-the-Lake. It is a lovely little town that features a theatrical festival and much charm. Almost any accommodation that you fall into there will be more than satisfactory.

I spoke to someone from Niagara-on-the-Lake at an event in Maryland recently - I don't doubt the charm (and the history) of the city.

One could easily spend two hours on that RJ between EWR and IAD (ground stop, multi-taxi, etc.).

The festivities in LAS are delayed by best friend flying in from east coast today. Let's just say his ETA is still more than 2 hours away ...

For $71, it's well worth a try if you don't mind the extra driving.

I wish we had cheap SPG properties in the area... It would definitely come in handy should mattress runs be needed.

It's sad the Woodbridge Sheraton is no more, that always had cheap rates. Coincidentally, while it was private hotel for the interm, it is becoming a Renaissance according to the signs currently covered up.

Plus, who knows how much longer 744s will be flying.. they seem to be going the way of the dodo bird pretty quickly.

Question for the Box - is it easy to book a hotel in self's name for immediate family, self not stay with them and collect the points? Hilton or Hyatt?

I've done this succesfully at a Marriott. I made the res in my name, called them to add my parents as they were showing up before me and then had to cancel my plans and still got the credits.

Apparently a few years ago the Denver Tech Center Hyatt had a ridiculous rates on weekends. The hotel used to be full of mattress runners that would call in and check in and call in to check-out. The hotel was physically empty but according to the books it was full.

Indeed! ^^^

Sitting at the embassy in CPH waiting to get inside and hopefully expand my passport. Many non-citizens are being seen in while I wait outside for my turn.

In and out of the embassy in less than 10 minutes. Sadly, my passport is still without extra pages.

First he said Monday which I countered with "now.". He wandered off for 5 minutes and came back with "maybe by 3pm.". Since I'm headed out to the 'burbs today there is no way I could pick it up this afternoon so I tried for "now" again. I lost.

Mornin', box. Pretty ugly day in CLE thus far. But we were able to sneak out inbetween rainstorms for a wonderful sail last night.

Then a "drunk front" blew in while we in dock...............I'm feeling a bit ragged this morn.
