You need
1)loose morals to operate in an ethically grey area.
2)a ready supply of credit (about 1k) that you can do with out.
3)free monday's
4)access to KVS or expert flyer
5)steely determination
6)luck

You want
1)access to the employee website that shows overbooks on anyone flight.
2)express flights on monday morning (CR1/2s are the best)
3)flights to large markets.

One of my quasi-Kettle friends called me yesterday to say how proud he was that he got a double-bump on DL at SLC, and almost got a triple bump. He got 2x 400 plus hotel and meal vouchers.

I got $300 on CLE-DAY.

I believe that CO has paid more than that on some TLV bumps but I don't know the exact details.

Bumptracker.com has (had?) a listing of someone taking a $1,000 bump on EWR-TLV. Scott6067 tells a story about a $2200 bump that he could not take due to scheduling constraints, but I don't know the details of it.

That's scary. Really scary. But not as scary as South Philly today...we ended up at Pat's because South Street was jammed beyond belief. And then there was the guy who was trying to make an illegal left and almost succeeded if not for the PA State Trooper that he nearly thwacked into had he completed the illegal turn. That made icurhere2, Steph3n, and I laugh like little schoolgirls...I'm fairly sure that the Trooper was thanking the stupidity gods for allowing this bonehead to boost his ticket count for the month by about three.

The idiot drivers are out it force today along with all of the people who insist on doing 45 on Rt 1 which is 55.

NOTE: SEAT BELT CRACK DOWN ON RT 1 TODAY, ALL TOWNS.

Made my train, headed for Princeton Junction. About to pop the top of my Tall Boy to hopefully hold me over on the ride. Full boozing is about 80 minutes away. :D

I came really close to buying business class for my train trip today, but decided it was not necessary. I just took a look at the business class car, and Amtrak has decided to use a regular coach-style
Car for business class. Amtrak regulars will understand how  this is.

I've started too. Might as well start early since I have to drive later. (that came out sounding so very wronge)

Is it a true coach or one of the old BC cars that look like the coach but with more seat pitch and window curtains?

The 4P in PHL can't find icurhere2's reservation, so the benefit of landing almost 40 minutes early is slowly being eroded.

Well, the mishap led to a benefit and the first interesting experience of our outing:

A. Benefit - I got off that CR2 40 minutes earlier (thanks ATC).

B. Interesting experience - haven't even left the parking lot yet. I'm on the phone with SPG asking where my reservation was (and to put it back).

SPG: We need your password please.
Me: Uh ...
SPG: Can we get your password please?
Me: It's two swear words and a number.

(ConciergeMike and Steph3n found this interesting).

I learned not to use such things as a password. They went stupid at work and changed the system and when they did and it asked me for a new passoword I typed in what I verbally said to the computer with the addition of number 1. Being that I couldn't change it for three (yes they had a minimum along with the maximum) I'd have to be real careful at client offices to make sure they didn't see me typing that in.

I should put the bat signal out now. I'm sure my neighbors are going to wonder what that's all about.

True coach. I have seen them do this many times. The business class cars you refer to are still in use as business class on the regular regional. se.

FWIW the minimum password age is actually a useful security feature. If there is no minimum then every time you are prompted to change it you can just cycle through numbers 1-N (where N is the number of previous passwords it remembers) and get back to your original password pretty quickly. You can see how that very quickly avoids the purpose of the changing pw requirement.

Just finishing my SaisonDupont as we arrive at Wilmington. Should I purchase a crappy Amtrak beer or just wait for the DO?

colpuck May 30, 2009 3:01 pm

I am hitting the miller lite. Yes, miller lite. Tastes great and less filling. With my shirt off, on my front stoop. I love my neighborhood.
