Now I need to figure out a way to distract TheCanuck.

She will not be in MCO the whole time, her dad lives near Orlando and will be picking her up in MCO. I think she will also visit her cousin near RSW for a few days.

Probably a reason for that.

For the above reason, never let them plead you down to NJ careless driving. And never plead guilty to it because if you are written for it, it is usually quite beatable since it exists in a never-never land between reckless driving and some other underlying offense which the officer generally did not think was quite serious enough to write by itself.

There's a good reason that DL dropped its ATL-TOL service, CO dropped CLE-TOL, AA dropped DFW-TOL. And now he thinks he's going to actually make money flying a rather large plane to an airport that nobody want to fly to/from? Sounds like this dude just loves throwing cash away and spending time in bankruptcy court.

In some ways his plans make sense. He picked some markets that he can undercut (EWR & MSP), grabbed some federal funding and seems to be more hub and spoke rather that the point to pointless point like SkyBus. Given the rates to EWR these days, I would certainly take a look at them given the convenience of TOL from the west side of Cleveland. Say what you will about TOL, but it will pull people from DTW and CLE as CAK has pulled people from CLE, CMH and PIT.

I've been in court and seen people plead guilty to careless driving thinking it was great that they got no points. What was interesting was seeing some of these people being chewed out by the judge because they had another similar guilty plea from a few years before that also started out as something completely different. There's a "one freebie" no-points careless driving charge that you can plead to in New Jersey, but if you get any kind of violation after that in the next few years it becomes a lot worse.

I love Project Managers who decide to schedule a meeting and let you know 20 minutes before not giving any consideration to your time.

I just got a 12 page memo from a subordinate saying that I need to provide information about our relationship with regulators for an application. The application says that they (external agency) will seek information directly from our regulators ...

Wet-leased aircraft with the Ryanair seat configuration (189 in coach) to boot.

Maybe, but for the last 10 years it seems it has lost more to DTW and CLE than it has pulled. The question is, can he be profitable charging fares that are low enough to get people from those other metro areas to drive to Toledo? I'm somewhat skeptical, especially given the limited route network that's being proposed. He's essentially counting on Northwest Ohio/Southern Michican to New York/Twin Cities/Orlando origin-destination traffic being enough to make it work. That is smarter than some of the crap SkyBus was flying (like CMH-CHA) but it's still a longshot, and that's an awfully big plane to fill from a market that hasn't been able to sustain service on small turboprops affiliated with major carriers in recent years.

We will be paying for it as taxpayers in a couple years. But being wet-leased from MiamiAir if he doesn't pay the bills I doubt they will keep flying it, they have plentyof military and sports charters to fill their planes.

It is already going to be taxpayer supported via federal grants.

Yes but what I mean is that it won't be huge losses as if buying own planes and leaving them to rot.

Hey guys...thanks so much for the suggestions. I feel a lot better already at least knowing that I can put some kind of plan of action together.

I think the two things I need to do first are:

- look up the point values of these things (where would I find that?)

- get my court date changed: it's currently 6/17/09 and I will be on a bicycle somewhere between here and DC on that day. Then a week at home in CLE and another week camping in CO and I'm not back in this state until July 8. That shouldn't be TOO difficult to arrange, right?

- fwiw, I still haven't changed my license and registration over to NJ from OH...not sure if that makes a difference in any judge/prosecutor's mind.

- like I said, I haven't had anything other than a parking ticket in over 10 years. That's got to count for something.

make sure you have some proof of residence from OH...as that can be a ticket in some states if in one state more than 30 days without changing.

1. Search for NJ MVC
2. Call the court first chance you get and explain.
3. By the letter of the law in NJ, you only have 7 days to switch your license and stuff over. They might have lengthened that in the last few years, but I remember reading 7 days.
4. You're right. It should count for something; the question is how much.
