Because of my absolute hatred for the CRJ, Platinum Airways will never fly the type. We may operate a large fleet of ATRs, and Aero Hotters (whatever the Hell that thing is) but you won't find any CRJs. Right now our jets are all comfortable BAE 146-300s, with larger planes scheduled to be added to the fleet in the near future.

I am indeed. I agree about the sorry state of the CRJ in real life, but they are exceedingly handy in the world of AM. Good seat density, high speed, fast turn around. I am able to suspend my disbelief in the name of profit, as any good capitalist would. :)

I think the mistake in this world is unlimited hubs in your starting continent....

It's turning Europe into a cesspool.

I'm so tempted to buy a couple of DC-8s as my longer range aircraft. They are pretty big and expensive, but so retro and cool at the same time. I also dream of my future international routes operating with L-1011s. And I might toss in a few 737-200 Advanceds for something in the smaller size with greater range than my current BAE 146-300 fleet.

And don't knock the Aero Hotter. For a 19 seater it's insanely profitable on shorter routes to tiny places. I've pretty much copied ZK's real-world strategy out of DEN to EAS airports with 19 seat planes in the AM world and have found it to be quite profitable. Those little places are cheap to set up, and the Aero Hotter is ridiculously cheap to acquire. After just a few AM days/real world hours, you've covered the initial investment and the thing turns into a cash machine.

I am launch customer of MD-87, and probably will get some DCs too :D

Is there any route combination in Europe that's not got someone flying it yet?

Back to the Box after a long weekend. We went to our normal CY and went up to the room (which they had just called to ensure was clean and told it was) to be met by housekeeping still cleaning the room. Only it wasn't the room we reserved. I had reserved a suite and this was a regular room (king with sofa sleeper) and possibly the smallest room of this type at this property (having stayed there previously in a basic room); the shower was so narrow (and no tub) and we had the gorgeous view of the trash area. I went down and told them there was a mistake with the room and she said they were completely sold out.

I went over to the computer area and started looking for another property; she came over a few minutes later after calling the manager and they comped our stay that night and moved us to a suite at noon the next day. That part was well handled but I still don't understand 1) putting me in the wrong room type and 2) given not only the wrong room type but the crappiest room of that type. The man in front of me at check in was not given his room type reserved; and Plus1 heard them make a call to move a sofa sleeper from one room to another.

Up to this point, it's been flawless and mistakes happen. I've already booked a return stay for our next trip.

Check in at LAX was . I didn't recognize any of the folks working and the guy who tagged my bags was surly to me and downright rude to another customer. The other two people I heard speaking to customers were the same way. I've had a  check in agent or two there; but haven't seen it that bad. Pclub was quiet (we were on the redeye) and my favorite bartender there was working whom I hadn't seen in a while.

On the plane, a lady and her son get in beside Plus1 and said "I'm flying with my son" (not, oh, would you please switch with whatever seat). He replied "I'm flying with my wife and daughter". The lady said she would just put him in her lap, but that he had a seat. Plus1 saw they were traveling with another person sitting in front of me and said he would switch with her so they could straighten it out. Then the @:-) went off and mom realized there was a boarding pass that showed kettle jrs. seat and they were able to resolve it. If she would have organized this to begin with, Plus1 could have made the switch to kettle Jrs. seat as he would have been just up one and across the aisle (he ended up being directly ahead of me). Kettle jr. then proceeded to cough up a lung before falling asleep.

I didn't think Bride Wars was that bad of a movie.

I hate redeyes.

Other than the fact that it doesn't exist, the AeroHotter seems to have won parise from more than one player.

Screenshots are the traveler's friend here. If the call on the carpet does come, it's really hard for the powers that be to continue complaining when it's handily pointed out that the expense of travel was lowered.

I may have some gently used CRJ's for you in the next few days.

Nope... I actually think it is going to come back to bite some folks in the butt. Sure the airline value is high, but keeping up with the routes is going to be a challenge.

We had considered going to see it in the theaters, but I think my fiancee has placed a ban on me having any sort of interactions of any kind with Anne Hathaway. She's delicious.

I dunno, i never made it to 70lbs... but I did manage to break the handle off a cheap Ikea pan I stuffed into the suitcase in my attempt to do so.

Had an interesting IAH-FLL flight today, we went down the FL western coast around a thunderhead that was going up to at LEAST 45,000 ft, then just north of the keys and around the east coast of FL and in.
