I'm thinking there were 2 people on the 8:15 with paid F seats that moved to the 7:00 p.m. We went out with Plus1 #2 on the list; quite grumpy. I had offered (sincerely, I might add) to switch seats as I had a fist full of drink coupons and I even mentioned doing a buy up. He grumpily said no to both. I don't *think* there were shenanigans, but there was no real transparencies, so who knows?

The CO forum has an outspoken upgrade list hawk. He believes that shenanigans are everywhere. He hasn't crawled into any of my orifices recently, but he used to do so on a regular basis with his attitude and stuffed-shirt way of coming across. To his credit, he has mellowed recently, at least in CO-land that I've seen. There was a poster who was advocating a reason code or some such thing for everyone on the upgrade list, and another poster took him seriously but turned the idea on its head. I think a tuba, morbid obesity, and hemorrhoids were referenced in that poster's rebuttal to reason codes. :D

October 15 through October 18 works for me. I already have vacation time for that. :)

I don't even know where 5 of these airport codes are. :o

Oh well, at least I have my points. My precious, precious points! :D:D

Better than Amazon shipping my new windshield wipers - took a week and a half and came in a phenomenally ill-suited box that I had to cut up for recycling.

Your vacation time won't jive. The island hopper is a weekly thing, IIRC. And the codes that you don't know are codes that most people don't know for a reason....they're in the middle of f-ing nowhere.

KWA was featured in Tom Clancy's "The Bear and The Dragon."

I wish!

Nothing like a few victory laps in higher ed...but I'm afraid that even my shamefully elongated tenure cannot even come remotely close to rival the otter! :D

The island hopper is 3x a week in each direction. With the forced stop over in HNL, crossing the IDL and the almost required stops on the way there (it would be silly not to!) an island hopper really needs 5+ days.

That will be one of my first stops there, whenever I go.

I've put that on our list of things to see when we go this year.

I know that if we end up putting together a golf outing this year, I will be commissioning  golf balls. I think I'll be adding a Flyertalk luggage tag to my arsenal upon the purchase of my new personal laptop or receipt of my work laptop. I think the job is getting me a Dell, so a new bag and a new tag are most certainly in order.

I am all about Penalty Box golf shirts/polos. Maybe a  on the breast and your handle embroidered on the sleeve.

If we do want some Box stuff done, let me know and I can get it done. We'll just need a count as far as what items we want done - I'll have it comped up - from there we can make decisions on actually producing based on who wants to buy it.

Well, it is official. I am out of a job. My position was eliminated. Along with at least 3 others at my station. I'll let it sink in for a day, then start the search. Thanks for the well wishes. I didn't even have an appetite for dinner. Good night.

I am so sorry. I know you will find something. I'm glad you have that darling little supporter at home.

Actually, I'm thinking of Feb-Mar next year. It'll be cold in the Northeast and a nice jaunt on the equator could be fun. Plus it gives folks time to prep. :)

I honestly would budget at least a week. If you're going to do it, you need to stop and enjoy the scenery.

fozz Jun 2, 2009 8:31 pm

So, I just noticed that HNL-NAN is 3,162 miles and NAN-GUM is 3,094.

From what Scott mentioned on the podcast, CO isn't prepared to fly a 738 that distance, nor do I think a 738 has that kind of legs, hence why they had to wait until the 739ER for LAX-HNL.

I wonder if this means that the LAX-HNL 73E will be doing the HNL-NAN-GUM rotation.

So for example you and the wife could apply for the MC, AMEX and Biz card (120,000 for that), wait the 6 months, and then reapply. :D

I know that she won't go for it, and might have a lawyer start drawing up papers if I repeatedly do it (and she intercepts it in the mail). I have great credit, but have always churned cards whenever I could get about $150+ in benefits. We stopped by our local bank when we were buying our house to see what their interest rate would be. They printed my credit report & I think it was 12 or 13 pages. She about had a heart attack, while the lender & I kept laughing as the printer rolled.

I remember that...I think. Wasn't that during the part with the Japanese hostilities? I've read every Jack Ryan book, and I haven't kept them for reference, so I might be confusing titles during the Ryan presidency.

I thought it was weekly. Meh. But I have heard that unless you dive, there's not much of a point in doing every stop and waiting for the next plane. It might be a trip that sbm12 needs a week to do because of that hobby, but I'd be content just to have the lines on the map and do a day or two in HNL/GUM/NRT. There's no way I'd take the hopper back eastbound. Put me on NRT-EWR and have a nice day.
