Heard about the show but I need to know it's purely a musical or there's spoken word in between the musical numbers. I cringe during pure musicals. There are words that are meant to be spoken and not sung.

Technically, a musical with no spoken word is called an opera. ;)

I agree 100% I haven't talked to anyone who's seen the show so everything I know about it is from reviews.

I saw it in Los Angeles this past fall before it moved to B'way. Loved it! But I have always been a big fan of the movie so my opinion might be a bit biased. I've never seen Allison Janney on stage before and she was terrific. I hope can pick up same day tickets to see it on my next trip to EWR-land.

That's right, they did announce that.

Though, I think the second NRT flight was always seasonal so I wouldn't really consider it a cancellation.

I'm surprised that LAX-NRT hasn't been 'rightsized' yet.

I thought the 2x DTW-NRT flights were year round, but I could be wrong...

Didn't they move a 744 to LAX-NRT? (ETA: Answering my own question... They did on June 1)

I can't figure out what DL is ever doing... I know they have to make a lot of fleet and route changes as part of the NW merger but there seems to be little rhyme or reason to the moves they make (and later reverse).

Welcome to Delta...where schedule changes until the hour of your flight are not just common, but the norm!

Heaven forbid you book a flight 330 days in advance - you're looking at a minimum of 15 schedule changes - and that still might be on the low side.

I wouldn't be shocked to see a 777 doing LAX-NRT within a year - it'll allow Delta to open a 777 pilot base at LAX (which should help the SYD flight) and allow for right-sizing. Plus, it looks like DL has some extra 777 capacity now with ATL-PVG/BOM/ICN all being the latest DL cuts.

I'm flying NRT-DTW-EWR on DL/NW next month and so far, no schedule changes. With a long haul, I don't expect many changes but who knows... You're right, they're all about their schedule changes!

If you think DL is bad AS is even worse!

Both my AS flights I've ever booked were booked within 2 weeks of departure, so I haven't gotten to experience that joy. At least AS only has 737s now - it can't be that bad - DL will swap you from a MD-80 to a 737-800 to a 757 back to a MD-80 before finally deciding that a CRJ-200 is what you'll end up. Because what's a Delta itinerary without a trip on Satan's favorite plane?

Actually AS has an "interesting" glitch in their systems. Even if the AC type remains the same the seat assignments are either wiped out completely or it's as if they went in manually and re-assigned seats randomly without respect to what your original seat assignment was, when you booked the ticket, or your elite status. I suspect it's done manually or there is a complete disconnect from the passenger profiles because my seat preference is clearly aisle. I've even heard of companions on separate but linked PNRs being split up. :td:

I have learned to check all of my DL itineraries at least twice a week. Now it is a little better since they do generally put the schedule changes up in red on your itinerary page and do not always blow away all the seat assignments you have carefully planned.

But with them, you must keep your guard up.

DTW-NRT has been 2x for a long time. I was referring to the ATL-NRT flight.

As for LAX, it has had a 744 since NW dropped JFK-NRT years ago. They moved that 744 to LAX. LAX has been the only city on the west coast that didn't serve NRT with a 332.

Possibly, though NW used to carry a fare bit of O/D traffic from NRT to LAX and then also the once a day LAX-LAS flight for those folks.

I have a suspicion with the dropping of PVF/BOM/ICN that we may see the 772s get sold off as DL hasn't been too happy with them and it helps DL simplify their fleet by one aircraft. (Though they still have *7* varieties for 757s.

I called the reward desk to find out why this is not ticketed yet. Now they are trying to tell me that this is not valid and I can't do this, even though I should be.

I've been hearing the opposite - if anything, DL doesn't have long-term plans for the 747s and they're strongly considering converting some of the delayed 787s to 777s. I wouldn't be shocked to see 777s replacing 747s on many of the Asia routes.

Well, I would definitely see them wanting to get rid of the 744s, but I know they want to standardize on the 77Ls. So, this may be an opportunity to a) get rid of 744s or b) get rid of the 772s.

I'm bummed they are dropping ATL-HNL to a 333. Now, to see if I can go to HNL on the 744 before Sept...

From a coach perspective, the A330 is light-years ahead of the 744. Both UA and NW's 744s are just as bad (if not worse) than DL's 767-300 SlaveShips. And WBC on both is the same...

Though a 747 is a 747, and the Upper Deck is the Upper Deck.
