At least AS only has 737s now - it can't be that bad - DL will swap you from a MD-80 to a 737-800 to a 757 back to a MD-80 before finally deciding that a CRJ-200 is what you'll end up. Because what's a Delta itinerary without a trip on Satan's favorite plane?

You're a big fan of DL, huh? :D

Maybe I should comp over to CO...:D

It is fun to poke some fun at my regular airline, but I still can't see myself totally cutting the cord between me and DL...

Though the Box is much better than the DL Forum Lounge.

I should have known it was too good to be true. Another email just rolled in with me in economy and waitlisted for BF.

As for LAX, it has had a 744 since NW dropped JFK-NRT years ago. They moved that 744 to LAX. LAX has been the only city on the west coast that didn't serve NRT with a 332.

LAX-NRT (NW1) was actually a 332 between late March and June 1. Odd...

I guess being based in MSP limits your options.

Even if you don't fly CO, you're always welcome in The Box! ^

From a coach perspective, the A330 is light-years ahead of the 744. Both UA and NW's 744s are just as bad (if not worse) than DL's 767-300 SlaveShips. And WBC on both is the same...

Though a 747 is a 747, and the Upper Deck is the Upper Deck.

I had the displeasure of sitting on a UA 744 in Y on a flight last year going from HKG-SGN.

Thank god it was a short flight, that was awful, though E+ was nice. I was having such a hard time comprehending that the particular plane was delivered in the 90s yet looked like a relic of the 70s.

I found that out long ago. Even tho I have quite a few friends over there, I check in here more frequently.

DL had planned on perma-dropping it to a 332 before they got wise and realized that between cargo capacity amongst other reasons, that the 744 was better off. I think now that DL's got some 777 slack though, we might see that plane take over for the 744s sooner than later. If anything, the pilot base would be a big reason - DL's currently having to deadhead 4 pilots each way every day on their ATL-LAX-ATL flights to position them to take the plane down-under.

Thanks for the welcome...I should have stuck around in the Box during the period from my first post until present day...I'd probably have around 20k posts by now (somehow I was the 7th poster overall in the history of The Box).

Hmmm, I wonder when they snuck that in.

I'm still surprised you didn't try to do a xxx-HNL-NRT routing for the line. :)
