Absolutely - I've wanted to do the island hopper for quite some time! I think going west on the island hopper is best though because most of the flight is during the daylight. I've considered doing HNL-[hopper]-GUM-NRT-EWR.

The only downside to getting a group together would be the fact that EUAs would become pretty much non-existent! ;)

How about we just delete all of them? I don't understand why people are so paranoid about making sure the upgrade systems work. Sure there are mistakes from time to time but why can't people just let them go? Speculating and getting all worked up solves nothing.

I'm usually not one to go off the deep end about stuff like this, but the way CO has their system currently set-up clearly demonstrates they didn't think it through from an end-user stand-point. It's fundamentally flawed.

But no, you'll never see me posting conspiracy theories about why I did/didn't get an upgrade.

In other news, I just hit the SPG hat-trick. Booked Le Meridien, Westin, Sheraton Suites in a matter of 2 minutes. (and a 4 points earlier in the day. :rolleyes:)

Don't get me wrong, I completely agree that their implementation has its flaws. It's the constant speculation of "shenanigans" that gets very old. It's been said a thousand times on FT, but I'll say it again - if you want to sit up front, pay for it!

The CO system is partially broken and not explained well in its newest form. However, I get tired of people crying 'foul' when they don't get upgraded only to find that the system worked as it should, which is why I am continually poking my head in those threads.

I think belynch and I disagree about who deserves the upgrade between companions and Silvers but other than that, I think he makes some good points. (sorry if I've come off as rude belynch)

Shenanigans might be when you see an NRSA sitting in F when you know that seat is yours. Otherwise you have no clue as to what transpired between the GA and the upgraded person.

I haven't followed any of the recent threads, but have any of them actually ended up being a legitimate issue?

And I have no qualms about Silvers being placed ahead of companions.

My beef is with buy-ups being placed ahead of: companions, elites traveling with companions, elites experiencing irregular operations, last minute ticket purchases by elites, etc. And the whole fact that we can't add companions to the upgrade list ourselves at time of check-in.

The buy-up program is a mess and it clearly wasn't thought out. While additional revenue is nice, sacrificing a benefit is not a good idea.

The companion benefit was nice, when it worked and you didn't expect much of it. But with the current situation, it will never work and it's kind of useless and frustrating.

FYI, there is a trip report on the island hopper route in this month's edition of Airways Magazine.

Hmmm, but since it's a 738-operated route, it should be B-uppable... just like GUM-CNS-GUM is B-uppable. Since the AirMike 738s are 14/141, then the first 14 of us that buy B-class get the up-front seats. Who needs EUAs when we get 150% EQMs towards MM/elite/bragging? ;)^

I would be up for this as long as it was before October and after November (going to New Zealand during that time).

Hehe, my AUS-CNS outbound is on 23 Sept, return on 5 Oct. And besides, I'm way over on EQMs this year anyway. I'd suggest wait until early next year. :D
