I should actively seek out some starboard seats in the near future just to see if it makes a big difference to me.

Any D/F fans out there?

I should clarify my position. When I am in the front cabin, I prefer a port side, but in the main cabin I go for the D/E/F exit row. I am such a strange one, I know

The St. Regis Washington, D.C.

W Washington D.C.

I am thinking of going down 8/21 to 8/23

A tough call... It would be nice to check out the "newness" of the W DC but I'd feel like I was getting more value at the St. Regis.

I'm a bit late, but I'll throw in a belated Happy Birthday anyway! :)

I feel your pain - in college, weather related cancellations forced me to spend my 21st birthday at a DTW airport hotel all by myself.

Since more is more, I guess I'll post yet again!

Thanks sdm1130. That sounds like a bloody awful way to spend a birthday. Of course I got home and Ms. GadFly was out cold and a piece was missing from the cake she made me. :p

Oh well...there's always tomorrow.

Well I am going to try hard for the 2 year visa because I will be going back and don't want to spend the extra cash if I don't have to. I will report back.

Being right handed, I always prefer an aisle seat on the port side if I am in the back. With the extra room up front, I prefer a window on the port side.

I've known for over 20 years that he preferred men to women and I'm fine with that (well, it took me a few months, but I got over it) but he looks awful; that's my issue!

That is exactly how I feel. I will be using the FWN for this trip. I have already been warned that hopping is not allowed for this trip, as it is not necessary. I don't want to hop on this trip anyway, but I did not like the "warning"

Oh well...there's always tomorrow.

My best friend went into labor on her birthday, during a night out with her hubby. She yelled "get the cake and bring it to the hospital". That's a girl with priorities ;)

Glad you got home and enjoy the few hours left until dawn - it's still your bday! Celebrate! Hey, she made you a cake - celebration enough:)

Basically, my thoughts exactly...this group seems much more like a St. Regis crowd in general, but checking out a flashy brand-new place definitely has some adventure factor!

Ohhhhh. I am so sorry to be the bearer of bad news - Pool Bar Jim's has NOT yet established an outpost here. :( It's seriously one of the main detriments of the place. There is a bar right at the entrance to the beach, though, and it's a very short walk from the pool.

Good to know the beach is so close. How is the beach there compared to Grande Ocean? Are there kids running all around (we're escaping our own sooo..........)

According to my memory of 3 years ago, the beach is pretty much comparable. Yes, there are kids - this is HHI after all. :) But I have definitely noticed overall numbers down this year as opposed to last - you shouldn't have a problem finding chairs, etc. which hasn't always been the case!

And happy belated birthday, Steve GadFly. At least it wasn't a dull or otherwise unmemorable day!

'Night, Box.

all joking aside, talk about a wonderful birthday present

We've thrown BL JR in bed with us to keep her from the ants (since I've seen a couple of fire ants, and she can die by fire ants, I feel better making sure she's breathing) and I just tell her to kick daddy. It works. :p

Thanks for the insight! I'm okay missing Jim; I had a good run with him the 10 days I was at Grande Ocean last month ;)

I'm jsut glad there's a bar. My BFF (for you Scott6067) thinks she is "allergic" to alcohol so I have to drink for both of us.

It was. Her daughter was technically born the next day and her best friend brought her a pound of her favorite candy. That's what best friends are for. :)

So I should go to bed now, huh?

I will be at a Hilton near DCA on Friday and another in DCA on Sat as I need 7 stays to Diamond with them. I know it isnt the best but as a strictly leasure traveler I have to get what I can. :0

Look at the Hampton Inn Convention Center/Chinatown/Gallery Place. I'm a big fan of that property. It is just a couple blocks from the metro and is generally pretty cheap. It is also clean and has free internet.

And my position is that it strictly depends on the equipment. No matter how they do reconfigurations, there is almost always some disparity in seat pitch that puts and extra inch somewhere and removes one somewhere else. You just need to know the airplanes.

However, all that goes out the window on long overnight international flights where the main request that I need to fill from the boss is to get her the closest seat to the front lav. :)

Florida is also joining that group since an item now in front of the State Legislature calls for nullification of any health reform laws that would restrict the ability of Florida residents to choose their own preferred method of healthcare.

Who knows what the constitutionality of all this stuff will turn out to be if and when it gets in front of the courts?
