Oh.. it was only 98°F in Houston today. I bet we had higher humidity compared to the Pacific Northwest.

Geez... the Pacific Northwest makes Houston look comfy. 103°F in SEA! Hottest it has ever been in SEA.

And the BNA area is still below high temp averages for summer (and I'm still not complaining).

ETA: According to NOAA, it was 95 on both 29 and 30 July last year. I'll take 82 and 84, TYVM.

I can't imagine what they're going through. As of this hour it's 98°F! YVR was 107°F! PDX was 106°F. Wow! I guess that's the good thing about the south/southwest - A/C everywhere you go - even at home.^

Yeah it was 100 while we were there but would drop to 70 overnight. What they don't tell you is that in the shade it's beautiful. Between the breeze and shade I was comfortable while everyone was sweating to death.

Do you set reminders in Outlook to do so?

How old-fashioned of me to carry a date-book and actually make lots of entries in it. :o

One of those entries in my book says to check nwa.com on August 4 for seats on a return from BCN for Nov 3. I already got 1A on the new 764 config going over to LHR late October. That flight had a NW number, no DL number and altho it was "Operated by Delta Airlines," you got no seat selection until 90 days out as per NW rules.

I did not realize that women gave up their maiden names anymore.

In all seriousness, most of my female friends acted indignant at the implication that they would do anything beyond hyphenate their last names.

Trying to plan travel and purchase tickets when the other half will be going through a name change is quite . A trip in October will be ticketed in her maiden name and a trip in December is already ticketed in her new name. Hopefully she will be able to get the process started in September while still keeping one piece of photo ID in her maiden name until the October trip is complete and then complete the rest of the process before November/December.

If she carries a copy of her Marriage Cert with maiden name ID, she should be okay.

The Foxtrot ants are increasing. Orkin man comes back tomorrow. I'm spending more time with the Orkin man than Plus1. We also now have some small black flying bugs. I've become a bug mercenary. BL JR told me I need to stop freaking out over the bugs and that it doesn't matter  Thanks for the coaching, Plus1.

Just made myself a drink and took a xanax because I was getting buggy.

Anyone staying at the Houston Aloft for the Grand Opening Sept. 27th? Great Aloha rate (99 plus 10 credit). Booking error so actually have to call SPG, but going to book it.

I did my part in stimulating the economy today. I was very balanced though. 5 dept. at Nordstroms and then Marshalls. Yin and Yang of shopping. I need to watch Confessions of a Shopaholic again as a reminder

I still hate Wells Fargo. Will I hate Chase just as much if not more?

Interesting idea - I'll have to look in to this as allowing her to keep a DL with her maiden name would be a ^. I'm sure NJ would handle the cost of a lost license + name change as just being a whole new license.

I would place emphasis on the passport personally. Passports have a variable of time while driver's licenses do not. File the name change on the passport as soon as it's legally possible and worry about the driver's license when you get around to it.

I'm guessing based on your answer that it was a relatively dry heat compared to here, since you were comfortable. Those people are not used to high temps like you. I know if I moved up to SEA (and I want to, so does Mrs. photog72), we would find a place w/ A/C or at least keep window units in storage, JIC.

I'm still maintaining my 40-foot bug death zone - except for the cicada-killer wasps, anything that comes near the house simply dies. Of course, poisoning yard <> good with kids in family. When I say I grill on the deck, I grill on the deck.

Speaking of hot wx. Wife and I went out to Marble Slab tonight. It hit the spot. ^

I remember one of my friends from SEA was melting at 80 degrees in July. I thought she was joking at first.

I hated my maiden name so much I wanted to change it before I was married. Hyphenating my maiden name to my married name is way too Leno. I considered taking my mom's maiden name as my last name for professional reasons (since we work together and I don't necessarily want people to know that). BL JR would have too many issues if I had a different last name; she already has an issue that I don't have the same eyes as she and Plus1:rolleyes:

We are watching Bugsy Malone. Plus1 went to bed, so BL JR and I are partying it up.

I've had to keep BL JR out of the lower level, so keeping her off the lawn is not an issue. I don't step in the grass, which is quite sad. Too afraid of all the Texas creatures.

I'm not worried about stepping on any fauna in my yard.
