Bump opportunity????
I am on flight 311 tomorrow EWR-IAH. It is zero'd across the board. Wonder what the bump opportunity is?
On another note, I checked in for the flight and I did not appear on the upgrade standby list. Called elite line. They tried to re-check me in. Still didn't appear on upgrade standby list so they told me to check with the agents at the airport!! I said, thanks, but not thanks, please put me through to OLCI IT support. Am on hold with them now. Waiting to see what happens. Wouldn't mind a bump on this flight if they put me on the direct on Monday morning. |

I've had this happen twice... it was an "airport only" fix, UGH.
It happpened to me before when I was rebooked at the airport because of wx delay. The gate agent told me that I had to call the elite line, she couldn't get it to work. I called back to OLCI, and then managed to get me on the standby list at #3. Little to no chance of getting the upgrade. The flight is sold out. I think I'll try for a VDB. |
wonder what our resident "crystal ball" gazer sees in terms of my chances of a VDB on flight 811 tomorrow EWR-IAH??? ;);)

No -- they bought it directly from the manufacturer and didn't configure it before sending it from HQ to the site.

So will IAH try to match the expected  in EWR today? All I can say is poor JEdward. To make it all the more fun, we had a very obnoxious mid-50s/early 60s-year-old woman on board who was a total @ss to the flight crew. When we killed the engines at EWR, she stormed up the aisle from coach to speak to the flight attendant, loudly announcing, "If we're still on the ground 30 minutes from now I will have a heart attack." The flight attendant asked her if she was having a medical issue, and she yelled, very loudly, "I'VE ALREADY HAD TWO HEART ATTACKS AND BARELY SURVIVED THE SECOND! DO YOU WANT ME TO HAVE A THIRD? DO YOU WANT TO KILL ME?" The flight attendant tried to calm her down, and she finally stormed back to her seat. After landing at BNA, she once again stormed up the aisle, locked herself in the first class lavatory for about 10 minutes, while a line of desperate passengers from economy who had been in their seats for nearly two hours due to turbulance waited, to do her makeup. After a flight attendant knocked on the door to make sure she was alright, she opened it, makeup in hand, and said "Let me be! I'm trying to fix my makeup!" She was then told that other passengers needed the lav, and she could put makeup on later after landing at ATL. She then stormed out, another episode of "I'm going to have a heart attack" started, this time involving the flight service coordinator, a gate agent from BNA, and the captain. This rolled out into the jetway, where I had a perfect view of the action out my window from seat 1A. She dropped a few F bombs during this conversation, and seemed to not care that everyone in F was discussing how obnoxious she was, as well as the line of Y passengers who were still in the front of the plane waiting for the lav. The best part was the flight service coordinator saying, "Ma'am, do we need to call you an ambulance for your heart, or the Nashville Police Department for your abuse of the flight crew?" Amazingly, that shut her up. She was then allowed to stand in the corner of the jetway and pout until we were ready to push back and head for ATL. Fortunately we didn't hear another peep out of her for the rest of the trip. |

I got the expected  twice yesterday — first at EWR, then at ATL. Was flying MSY-EWR-ATL, arrived at EWR early to find my EWR-ATL flight was delayed for at least an hour, due to a combination of weather at EWR and ORD (plane was inbound from ORD), and a maintenance issue at ORD (turned out to be a busted overhead bin door over 1A/B, where I was assigned to sit). Once we finally boarded at EWR, thunderstorms approached the airport, and we spent nearly an hour getting to the runway, then 45 more minutes at the end of the runway waiting for the weather to clear enough to take off. Then, on approach to ATL, we were put into a holding pattern, until fuel ran low enough we had to divert to BNA. The diversion was rather short, about 30-45 minutes on the ground to refuel, and then we were cleared straight on in to ATL, and landed at ATL about 40 minutes after taking off from BNA. I left the W in New Orleans around 5:30 AM central time, and arrived at ATL around 9:00 PM eastern time, 14.5 hours later.
