On which aircraft? The international-config 763 I saw with the new leather Y seats looked awful (insufficient seat-back height, so no head/neck support).

and leather/pleather.....I hate sitting in that for long periods. It is like a heat radiator!

True, I like them too. Waivering due to the thought of more than 2 hrs with the masses of air greyhound. 1 hr or so on WN is no prob.

I imagine the demographics issue is more pronounced ex-LAS (on all carriers, no less). I have found the WN crowd ex-HOU to be primarily business travelers who want a comfortable coach seat and access to a very efficient airport (HOU).

Their F seats on the 738s were some of the most comfortable domestic F seats I have flown. Then they went and replaced them with those new, horrible, green pleather bricks. I don't care if it has a touchscreen video monitor... it tries to destroy your back!

Once you're seated, Y is Y. And the boarding process isn't even that bad any more. Give me a DVD on my netbook, and I don't even look up.

The seat can make all the difference, though. If I knew EUA was not an option, I would seriously consider WN for a transcon over CO, simply due to seat comfort. I also recently discovered that AC has an incredible Y product (from both a seat and entertainment perspective). I did YYC-YYZ-DFW all in Y, and was actually pretty comfy for the entire trip.

I'd fly to IAH and go out via HOU if the transit was easier.

So thinking of hotel hopping while near the Opryland area. Choice of Holiday Inn Express, Hyatt Place and Hampton Inn all around the Factory Stores of America area. Any of these I should avoid?

I did LAX-YYC in Y and liked it as well, at least on the outbound. I got a jerk sitting in front of me on the return who was at full recline and kept pushing his seat back more every ten minutes or so. I was so  that I waited till he slept and then forcefully banged my leg against the seat back.

I suspect the practice is more common in smaller population centers. Perhaps Texas DPS is just as active with enforcement here in Houston, but with ~5M inhabitants in the metro area, and many thousands of extra linear-miles of roadway, their enforcement efforts are not as apparent. If you live in Waco, Killeen, Victoria, Lubbock, Abilene, etc., such enforcement attempts likely affect a greater percentage of the population.

You're probably correct. It's just like speed traps. They're most likely going to happen in podunk Redneckistan.

Yet another reason not to live in such places.

DL, on some aircraft.

Which aircraft? I have yet to find them. In fact, I generally find the newer DL seats to be far worse than the ones they replaced.

Who has comfier domestic Y seats than WN? I really like their seats.

The only other domestic carriers I've had good Y seats on are UA (depends on the aircraft type, but a good Y seat on UA plus E+ can be a great experience in Y), and FL (73G only; the 717 seats are beyond awful).

Obviously you haven't driven in Ohio. Speed traps are seemingly a science here, from local streets to freeways. My town has some pesky cops on harleys that hide behind freakin' trees! Bridges, on ramps, medians, berms, you name it.

I've only been stopped outside of DFW and in MIA tho :D
I never even see police out in my area unless I seek them out.

WN at HOU, especially during the week, isn't a bad experience at all. And if you're flying intra-Texas on a weekday on WN, it's really pretty great, and the only way to avoid RJs to many Texas cities. I've got no problems with the passengers on WN on those routes, especially on weekdays.

Weekends/holidays/summer on tourist heavy routes, though, is a totally different story.

I've got quite a few miles on me in Ohio, mostly on the turnpike west of Toledo.
