Answer to question - probably no. Answer to statement - factually correct.

IAH-BNA is consistently one of the cheapest Q-UPs from Teh Pit. With UA, you can route IAH-ORD-CLT-BNA, US only allows you to route IAH-CLT-BNA.

Not disputing that - the "probably no" was subjecting one to US to do either routing on a real plane ;)

DL used to allow IAH-SLC-ATL-BNA for ~$560a/i in F. Same for MSY. Ah, those were the days... :D

those laws lead to this, i have been checked 3 times in the last year in Miami and once in TX. :td:

I think that's more times than I've gone through one of those checkpoints in the last 10 years!

In any case, if you compare the number of miles you've probably driven in the last year to that, it still happens probably a ridiculously small fraction of 1% of your trips in the car.

Yep. I still have nightmares about the CR9 F lav as a result of one of those runs.

I suspect the practice is more common in smaller population centers. Perhaps Texas DPS is just as active with enforcement here in Houston, but with ~5M inhabitants in the metro area, and many thousands of extra linear-miles of roadway, their enforcement efforts are not as apparent. If you live in Waco, Killeen, Victoria, Lubbock, Abilene, etc., such enforcement attempts likely affect a greater percentage of the population.

Yea miami is :td: Police state to the extreme. they go way overboard on the checkpoints too, they will like up 15 police cars to funnel traffic into them and block intersections for turnoffs for half a mile as well.

Are you willing to suffer the indignities of US? IIRC, they offer mainline to BNA via CLT.

I will if it means avoiding an RJ. I've flown CO to BWI and caught WN to ORF just to avoid an RJ.

Yeah, leaning toward AA or WN. Haven't decided if I want to leave from LAX or LAS. If from LAS I'd go with WN but it's still 3.5 hours on WN .

True, I like them too. Waivering due to the thought of more than 2 hrs with the masses of air greyhound. 1 hr or so on WN is no prob.

On which aircraft? The international-config 763 I saw with the new leather Y seats looked awful (insufficient seat-back height, so no head/neck support).
