For the glasses, try New Fei Optical Supply. I've only been to the location in Mongkok, but the web also shows a branch on the HK side in Causeway Bay.

We called them and they picked us up in a van at the hotel and then dropped us back off. The woman who runs the place is "Alice." She's quite a character and you'll recognize her by her big hair.

We were the only non-locals in the place and they were way busy. The selection is huge, but you have to dig hard. It is kind of a warehouse operation. They can take your RX or get it off your current pair. If you need it, they can also do an exam right there.

They can normally turn things around while you wait.

In TST a guy I've used 5 or 6 times is Swiss Optical, I deal with Raymond. He has a more traditional store front operation. He'll also take your RX right of your current pair. He'll get your glasses in 2 or 3 days.

+1 Though I did manage a Deluxe Guest room as opposed to a Traditional Guest room at the Westin Times Square a couple of months ago.;)

There are some 319s, DC-9's, CR9's and E75's potentially involved on those middle two trips. There are also some CR2's ...

I will say I was very pleased with New Fei. I didn't go in with anything in particular (if you are that's easier of course) and I had fun going through all the styles they had. You want bargains? They have it. You want top of the line? They have that as well. I ended up with a pair of Coach (which are either now in the Atlantic or with someone else) and Dolce and Gabbana sungasses as well as a a pair of Burberrry and CD of eyeglasses . They did the fit while we were there and followed up afterwards.

I love HKG. I'm no expert, but I'm happy to pass along what I've picked up along the way.

If you do go to Shalimar, I highly recommend both the Beef Seekh Kababs and the Nihari. The vegetarian dishes aren't all that great.

The Fremont one is the best out of all of them. Sunnyvale is a second, but the Fremont one definitely wins hands down.

This is my first trip, so I am a sponge for useful info. Leaving a week from today, staying 6 nights at the Conrad before 3 night at the Conrad in TYO.
