I got to go find an ATM....so many places don't take anything but cash here. What country am I in? :D

Plan B. Have now booked MSY-EWR via IAH in B as a refundable ticket. Travel agent didn't question it. I'm now upgraded on both segments, inluding the 762, which is running very full in both front and back.

Now off to find a one way ATL-MSY fare for the beginning of the same trip.

This has taken far too much time and effort today.

Yes they do. I've taken better pictures on my current BlackBerry than some of the ones that I took with the first digital camera I had back in 2001.

I love me some family events. Of course, my family is also known for drinking VERY well at such events. Sobriety is quite frowned upon, and the booze is good stuff.

That part I'm not such a fan of. Last time I tried to stop my nephew from doing something stupid I got a lecture from my sister. Good thing I was pretty drunk on good booze (see above ;)).

I wanted to do that or the annual football (soccer) tourney. I called AmEx and they were morons and couldn't figure out how to get me tickets in advance. And then I got to the hotel (Ren, perhaps, with a phenomenal upgrade) and they wanted to charge me an extra USD$20 to send someone to pick up the tix. Suffice it to say that I chose to get horribly lost on mass transit, tried to figure out vaguely rural buses and then gave up and went to Stanley Market (that's the one on the south side of the island, right??), hated myself for doing so and then wandered around some more. The beach I hit on the way back was nice, but it was February so there weren't really folks out on the beach.

I thought that Stanley was about as bad as Canal Street. Cheap crap for tourists. Not my cup of tea.

Oh, and the jade market. It's a swap meet kind of thing with low-grade cheap jade items. It's on the Kowloon side, the taxi drivers will know how to get there.

I should've found that. At least they admit it is low-grade crap and you can have some fun with that.

Oh, on the MTR, figure out where you're going and find the right station; ie "Admiralty" AND the right exit, ie, "J2". If you're not sure of the exit, there will be a map in the station - figure out your exit before you go topside and life will be much easier.

HUGELY helpful tip. I wish NYC did the same thing. It really would be useful. My "you" says that there is a new iPhone app that does that to integrate with HopStop but who knows. When I give folks directions on the street and try to explain that they should also listen to where on the train to stand for the correct exit they think I'm nuts. They're not wrong, but it still hurts to hear them so confused that I'd suggest there is more than just the name of a station involved. Of course, the HKG stations are much larger underground so it is more important there, but still.

Tonight's dinner shall be a whole Black Sea Bass grilled with homemade mango salsa and a corn, tomato and orzo salad. Quite yummy. Tonight will also include the last 5 ounces of vodka from the bottle in my freezer. I'm really starting to feel that now.

I have this stupid (because I'm not taking full advantage of it) jetBlue pass and want to fly more. Think I can convince the client that I need a couple extra days off in early October? On a contract gig that is relatively open-ended what is the appropriate level of advance notification for such things.

Also, National Treasure is on TV right now. It is a horrible Nicholas Cage film yet I find it incredibly entertaining. Is that wrong?

My first digicam took sucky pics, and it has been well over a decade since I had it, It was a Casio QV-300

Sounds like my family - mom and I alone sometimes go through two bottles of wine.

We bought baglady jr's crib based on the fact that it "converts to a full size bed."

Well, it converts to such if you buy the conversion kit. Great, lemme go find one....

"Hmm, that model is no longer being made and therefore we no longer make the conversion kit and no, none of our other kits will work with that model."

A pretty thorough search of the interweb does not show anybody with the out model kit in stock.

I've written the maker (they're in Quebec) and tried to be charming in French. We'll see how far that gets me.

And I got an email today asking me to write to the bankruptcy court of my former employer to try and save our pension plan.

22 years of pension payments circling down the drain....

No, as the girl is hot.

What was the value of said tool? It isn't that hard to figure out the routings IMO. The tool wasn't that useful for me.

They are much better now than they used to be, but they still aren't proper cameras. The noise on the low light shots (like the one from last night) is still pretty high, which comes from the sensor being ridiculously small. Better than no camera at all, but still no substitute even for a Canon SD (Whatever the current number is).

The PBGC won't pick up your pension? The US bankruptcy courts have become the tools of the powerful to avoid the equally powerful.

Dinner plan was modified (based upon a cursory analysis of pasta in the pantry). Macaroni and cheese with broccoli and chicken; remarkably not horrible in terms of calories or fat despite being the stuff from Kraft that comes with the gel-like cheese.

That's it? ;)

Seriously, though, we usually average something over a bottle per person. Highest I can remember was 12 at dinner one night and 18 bottles consumed. And ~6 of us there were <15 years old.

Yes, she is. Good cleavage shot while they're inspecting the constitution in dad's house.

I was thinking - the plan wasn't subject to ERISA?
