I have found that most of the 4P's I have stayed in were ghetto (4P Miami Beach, 4P PHL Airport, 4P San Diego and some rathole in PA near WV)
I do too.

The SAN 4P went through a refurbishment in the last two years and is far nicer then it was.

And you can generally get it for around $100 which is amazing for any sort of large chain in SAN(*).

(*) Chain in this case excludes hotels with the words Comfort, Holiday, Roof, Inn, Best, Super and Motel in their name.

Hyatt Vineyard Creek Hotel and Spa is coming in $100/night cheaper for a similar experience :D

And all but one you were looking at had G bonuses (on top of the current MC bonus until the middle of September).

I stayed at a Comfort  in SAN - the best part was a nearby restaurant with phenomenal fish tacos.

Hey - LaQuintas are (in my mind) consistently a slightly better quality. Not that I stay at any now.

I stayed at a Comfort Inn in San Francisco on 101 near the water. It was not bad and I figured out how to screw them on parking. On the inside of the garage they had an air hose sensor that when you drive/step on the gate to the garage would open. I would drop off my friend at the side and he would go in and jump on the hose to open the garage, thus free parking :D

Yeah. Personally, I'd never stay there if I was planning on being in San Francisco.

Having lived in that hotel for six months, it is by far one of my favorite Ws and I often go out of my way to stay there (so much so that i'll commute to Santa Clara from there).

The staff is generally helpful, upgrades are quite plentiful even as a Gold, they don't bend you over for parking like the W in SF, the rooms are all Suites and it's right next to a nature preserve which can be fun in and of itself. Plus, what other W can you stay at on a Weekend for around $100?

True it's not your standard W, but if you want the W experience and like the idea of an isolated weekend, it's a great choice.

Nice, I almost forgot about the G bonus points, I could jump around a bit an increase my stays.

I like the top brands for one main reason, the beds are a step above, and I can sleep on them. I can't even sleep in the cheap hotel bedding and mattresses. It isn't even a cleanliness factor like same have, it is just a comfort factors, springs in my back = no sleep. I don't sleep a lot but when I rest my head for 3-4 hours I need to be able to REST.

Increase the stays and the 2,500 MC bonus is also per stay. Would also push you through another Platinum Extra cert (more points).
