CO 1E - any seat recommendations? I'm guessing the A side would be best when traveling with someone else?

Stick with the forward cabin, somewhere in the center. Get seats next to each other on the A or K side. I marginally preferred the K side because there seemed to be slightly less foot traffic on the starboard side aisle. Do not get seats next to each other in the center section. Something like 3A/K 4A/K or 4A/K 5A/K would be good. I will post my photos on flickr this weekend.

I'm wondering if today will be a good day for bumping.

I have a EWR-MIA flight this afternoon and it looks like all the flights got zeroed since last night.

1000% yes. The weather is only going to get worse this evening. ^

Apparently the  in the Northeast is still going strong. My sister is supposed to fly down here (thanks to my UA DBC voucher from March) for basically one day of all-family-togetherness, arriving around midnight tonight and leaving Sunday morning. If they delay/cancel the outbound and it doesn't go tonight, there's absolutely no point in her going at all...I just posted a question in the UA forum about their trip-in-vain policies (particularly when the ticket was bought on a voucher) since I almost never fly them and thus know very little. Fingers crossed.

Which beach did you go for, belynch?

Is there a consensus about how trustworthy seatcounter.com actually is? My CLT-EWR flight on Sunday is on a 737-500 so 8 F seats...the site shows F7 available, and the 3-day mark was yesterday evening. I wasn't expecting this one to happen for a gold on an L fare, but if F7 is accurate...how long do they generally hold and try to sell those seats?

Seatcounter tends to be really accurate in premium classes (at least for NW) - I'm able to compare seatcounter with the NW site's unsold/unaccounted seats. In Y, the airlines often zero out a flight to give re-booking flexibility when IRROPS are coming, so that's a much less accurate indicator of how loads are looking.

And yes, I've had weekend flights recently with open seats in F, even after buy-ups.

Good luck!!! My flights to go pick up the dog are full in the back and have a few seats up front open but I am on strict orders not to take any bumps.

Also, does anyone have experience bringing a dog onboard and NOT paying the fee? Are the GA's looking for stuff like this (paging sfogate) or do you think I will be able to slide by?

Until boarding, many times.

It was like that in March when I was there so nothing new.

Never mind, I had my gates mixed up.

Unfortunately, there are not 2 seats on the A or K side of the main cabin. 12-14A and 11-14K are open, so we will probably end up in the mini cabin.

Who needs jack stands? At least in some cases, all you have to do is slip a drain pan underneath the car, and let this valve do the dirty work.

On the beach for $500. (facility fee. Actual costs all-in will, of course, be much more.)

Reserving a beach for the wedding...................$500

Limo to/from the ceremony.............................$250

Mileage tickets booked for the honeymoon.........$0 (plus taxes)

The look on everyone's face when they see that Dunkin Donuts catered the reception..........Priceless

:D

Actually, I forgot that the K side is really the D side on DL - I kept thinking in VS terms.

If there are two B or C seats next to each other in the main cabin and you do not care about being near a window, you could pick those, like 3B/C 4B/C, for example. What I would not recommend is picking two center seats on opposite sides of one another, like 3B and 3C, because you will be facing away from each other. The minicabin is not bad, but the forward cabin is definitely better given the distance from the coach cabin and the engines. Also, seatguru is correct that all of row 10 and 11 CD are undesirable - avoid those if you do go with the minicabin.

I just decided (e.g. in the last 15 minutes) that I'm going to the 2010 Olympics. Just booked my Hyatt (good to be Diamond) and airfare is surprisingly inexpensive to/from SEA.
