Got a short downpour up here too. I forgot how much I enjoyed rain and missed it while I lived in SAN.

I hardly ever have the A/C off. In winter it's invaluable when defogging the windows and during the summer it's just plain necessary. :-::-:

I live in Florida and A/C is a requirement especially on those hot summer days when it is humid and 90F.

My last two cars have come with digital climate control and I now keep the temp right around 72-74F. This is in stark contrast to the day of the hot/cold dial with a button for A/C when I generally kept the dial on most cold setting, only adjusting the fan as needed.

My car's AC doesn't work. The rest of the car is fine. I'm trying to bring myself to pay the $800 or so necessary to fix it (evaporator is shot and since it's under the dash it costs more to get to it than to replace it )

Almost any oil change is cheaper than doing it yourself when you figure in your time and the  associated with safe disposal of used oil. SkyMall had a pretty cool oil change tool that would make life easier, but the fact remains that you still have to transport that crap if you do it yourself.

I don't care what they say -- draining from the bottom will get rid of more oil and sludge.

FYI, the Hyatt is in the car exclussion zone so you won't be allowed to bring a car into the city. Keep in mind a lot of the Olympics will be at Whistle and Richmond which is were YVR is located. I hope you got tickets from USOC as that's the only source for US residents.

Is it too late to get in line for tickets?

I did some additional investigation into the DC Ducks tour, and it appears that even if you buy a ticket for a particular day in advance, you are not assigned a time until the day of the tour, and times are first come, first served beginning at 8:00 am at Union Station. Unless you have a group of 20, they do not really do group reservations. Thus, we may have to change that part of the plan. Stay tuned.

Can't one of you go down at 8am to get a spot for later in the day? Wish I could join you...

Does D.C. have open-container laws? I could camp out at Union Station with a mini-keg of Warsteiner.

Is there a website out there that searches the cheapest airfare out of a particular city?

I need to get away this weekend, but don't want to spend a gazillion dollars on tickets. Most of the cities I searched were in the 500-800 range...

If you hook it up to an IV does it still count as an open container?

Presidential coin delivery

Well, my $2500 in coins shipped today and will be delivered on Monday....just in time for me to not be home all week. I guess UPS will hold them in their dispatch depot up in Edison for 5 days after the 3rd attempt so I can just go pick them up next week.

I'm really wishing UPS would just deliver them on Saturday instead of making me go though all this

For now, I was just interested in the organized chaos of being in an Olympic city, festivals, and parties on opening weekend. I'm also fairly persuasive (elusive when necessary) and will StubHub what I deem is necessary to attend (or cheap to attend) later. Besides - my hotel, flight, and train has put me out all of $500 so far.

I basically did the same in ATL in 1996 (though slept on my cousin's counch, not in a hotel). We had a blast. The energy around the olympics is really amazing. I bought tickets on the street for the couple events I attended (swimming day one finals and judo) and paid way less than face in both cases.

I've got whatever Hyatt tier I get from my CO PP card. Will that allow me to book into the Hyatt near the Olympics? My guess is no :(

I mainly want a hotel and am sure I'll be able to find tix when I get there. I'm Diamond with Hilton... Hmm...

I wonder where Vancouver is going to ship their big drug problem off to? That scary bunch of people are right there next to the few venues in Vancouver proper.

See if the Hilton in Burnaby, BC has availibilty. It's right by a Skytrain stop and it's about a 10 - 15 minute ride into the Olympic area.
