I keep forgetting about AM. Every once in a while I get an email saying i've been gone too long and they are going to close my acct, so I login.

Canuck and I are on the same page with this, thankfully. Beach + beach house + 100 friends and family = done.

Confirmed the place this morning. :-:

Congrats! I too am a big fan of the remote beach wedding.

Anyone ever stay at the Wailea Marriott Resort? Anything better in the Makena area of Maui?

That is where I stayed. Nice hotel, the biggest drawback is that it doesn't have a beach of it's own.

It's next to a fancy mall , but the good part is that you can walk there and get cheap eats at the general store in the mall. Overall, I liked the hotel more than the Westin. It's very private, has three pools which are in completely different areas and the adult pool was quite nice.

As far as I know, there are no hotels in Makena.

Glad to help. Teh Festering Pasta Room is down to a balmy 86F today. Currently getting paid to watch other people work and find improvements.

This plant would be a kid's food field trip dream. Macaroni and cheese, American cheese slices, lunchables, and easy cheese.

One of my dreams is to become anorexic and have to eat my way out of a Baby Ruth factory. :D

I've never flown Island Air but all flights to the islands are basically airbuses. Fly what's ever the cheapest.

I use to service (as a vendor) Wailea Marriott and the hotel always seemed quiet. I don't like that side of the island and prefer Kaanapali side because it's closer to Lahaina. It's just a personal preference.

The Makena area is mostly vacation apartment rentals.

Quiet is good. It's only three nights and we're fixin to rent a car.

We're doing Kaanapali (Westin on free weekend) the three nights prior. Then off to Kauai for 4 nights. Sheraton on C+P (although the Hilton is cheap...) :-:

Resort fees are .

I have no experience with Island Air, but I would recommend sticking to Hawaiian if they conveniently serve your destination. Avoid go! unless you are in a gambling mood. It's Mesa with a Hawaiian shirt and lei.

We were at Atlantis a few years ago and it was absolute chaos. Overrun by kids. When I asked where the adult pool was, they didn't have one. Grrrrrr.....I'll never go back. It was like f*skin' Disney.

The Westin has all the pools in one area so there isn't much seperation. There were kids all over the adult pool and in the hot tubs and the staff didn't do much to stop it even after acknowledging it.

The Guest Relations Manager and I had a very nice chat before i left. :)

Right now I'm a strong 'maybe' for the DC DO but I guess I should get my train tix now while they're cheap (I can always cancel them). PM me with your booking info and I'll book the same one.....as the train chugs down there, we can both chant "I think I can - I think I can - I think I can"
