Ooohhh, Pool Bar Jim's - that sounds like you're staying at Grande Ocean! (unless he has an empire now) :p My family has a timeshare at Surf Watch (one of the other Marriott properties). I've always thought that HHH had the nicest beaches that I've seen in the continental US...water warm like a bathtub. :)

It's a great place for relaxing. I can't wait for our week there at the end of this month. Have fun!

I miss HEB and Central Market! We do have a pretty good Whole Foods not terribly far from us, and a Kroger that's very close. I've never been a big Kroger fan, and the Edgewood location in Atlanta is pretty bad. They are currently doing a massive renovation of the store (which has been open only 2-3 years at most) and I'm hopefull the mix of merchandise will improve after the renovation. The best stores I've seen here are some of the Publix locations, but there's not one close to us.

Kroger varies a lot, my store looks old (the stone rock type front) but carries more premium items than any other grocer around. I always get meats at the market down the road, but Kroger does have the next best around, but cheeses of all variety, any special order for most anything they are very eager to help, even at 3am :)

My local grocer and meat market the other day had whole ribeye on sale for $3.99/lb I bought $54 worth :D

I <3 me some Krogers as well, but alas, they do not service our state capital.

I'm way up north in Cedar Park; that is a bit far to go just for groceries. But we'll go down to check it out one day. Since I'm unemployed at the moment, maybe we'll do that as an outing to get out of the house.

I generally disdain Walmart as well, but I am blessed to have a fairly new store nearby that is actually quite nice. It does not claim to be a Super Center though it does have a full service grocery. I was pleasantly surprised that everything was clean and cheap, even the produce. But most other Super Walmart stores I have been to were downright awful, including the one in Nacogdoches where I shopped regularly as a poor college student.

We also have two Super Target stores here which are great, except for the produce. They have a very limited selection and their prices are about the same as HEB, which has everything.

Brookshires is crazy, but Brookshire Brothers (the chain in East Texas) is a little more down to earth I found.

I absolutely refuse to set foot in Wal-Mart unless there is no other option.

And Brookshire Brothers can be pretty awful. That and Wal-Mart are the only options in the town I grew up in, and Brookshire Brothers is fine if you want just basic stuff. But they don't have much of a selection, and the store in my hometown has had ongoing cleanliness issues for going on 30 years now — and this is in two different buildings, with dozens and dozens of managers.

ROFL, funniest thing I heard all night.

In other news, I have 9 billion in AM2 cash, suggestions?

I take 5-8 trips to LAS a year; biggest worry between now and Sunday for food is Craftsteak or L'Atelier for dinner Thursday. Set for tonight - dinner on flight was fine (salad, chicken breast, paella, asparagus, chocolate cheesecake).

And I would be gaming if the consolidated rental car terminal weren't in Primm.

If you haven't done Craftsteak before that would be my choice. Great side dishes.

That's true. Wawa food blows Dunkin out of the water. I would have switched to Dunkin for coffee by now but the closest one is ~10 miles from my house, and I have three Wawas within 4 miles. The new flatbreads are very yummy.

I miss going out to ABE all the time for work. There was a Wawa just down the road from the office. Default quick lunch of choice.

On a  note...my microwave broke today. It's a ~3 year old GE micro/vent hood combo. Apparently, there's a known defect where the magnetron shielding fails enough to microwave the circuit board, causing it to shutoff after 2 seconds of operation.

GE will repair it, but it's out of warranty, so I'm looking at an 80$ service call, $180 worth of parts, plus labor. It cost $250 new.

Got an LG with a 10-year warranty on the magnetron for $180 at Home Depot.

GE: We Bring Good Things to Life (and then let them microwave themselves)

Night, Box.
