But it actually is random, I booked a mistake fare from Asia-N America which I managed to route via SYD, picked the latest SYD flight to create a stopover and it happens to place me there on the day he is arriving.

Not only is that random, but that takes considerable skill in light of the Date Line. Not having been to Oz, I cannot fathom getting off a plane two days later.

Confirmed reservations are available 48 hrs in advance if you are elite even if the car service is sold out. You also get lounge access at over 3 locations worldwide.
