Awesome. So helpful. sfogate rocks!! :D

My crystal ball says, "Sorry, no one really wants to escape to PHL tomorrow. You should be able to stretch out on your flight tomorrow."

Thanks for the compliment.

Wow, great post, as always! This should go in the FAQ thread and will definitely be stored in my phone :)

I can add it to the FAQ, and I will, but I'm really not sure that it is worth calling in to make the change. It is supposed to be fixed at the airport. The agents there are supposed to know how to do it. I really don't understand why folks keep insisting that it happen before then; it doesn't actually get evaluated until ~T-30min anyways.

Looks great.

Tell the person on the phone to do this entry: 6:811/2AugEWR-your last name$upg#u

This will get you on the stand-by list after check in. This entry works for any flight, anywhere. 6:flt num/dateplace-your last name$upg#u

Ooooh! Thank you for gazing into your crystal ball. Maybe I'll try for VDB then.

Thanks for the info re getting onto the upgrade standby list. I shall add it to my phone too, so I always have it handy.

What a wonderful asset you are to the Box!

Humor us, SBM12, humor us!!!

It's just nice to see our names on the list. I've already dropped to #4, so I know there's no chance of the upgrade anyway, but it is ooooooh so nice to see my name there ...;)

And yes, the agents are supposed to know how to do it, but when you get a blatant "I can't do that, you have to call the elite desk", it's nice to have something in your back pocket to help, wouldn't you agree?

Actually I look at my upgrade list at around 1 hour before departure, especially when I am overbooked in the back and not in the front. I also look to see who isn't checked in. If you are not on the list, I "could" assume that you do not want to be upgraded on this flight, perhaps due to needing to sit with a child or boss or whatever. I don't ever assume this but other GAs might not care. If I need to have seats open up in the back of the bus, I start my battlefield upgrades early so it is important to be on the list as soon as you can.

As a disclaimer, I will not clear Elites out of order and will hold off upgrading until I have spoken to you or you get checked in. But others might not care.

Very nice - I thought I was one of the few to post on FT while in the middle of a lake, along with colpuck.

Good luck with the VDB. All the flights to IAH are quite over and it could be due to the protection bookings from the other day. I'll keep my fingers for you.

I MADE IT. Of course it is hot as hell and there is no A/C in my house.

I hear fry's has ACs for $100, sounds like a good investment!

I guess the last thing you want to do is drive around to cool off. :D

icurhere2 Aug 1, 2009 5:39 pm

With the temps up there, I would be surprised if Fry's is able to keep window units consistently in stock at the stores.
