Jayson isn't telling the whole truth, except about the part of the pilot group being the most paid.

I work nights, holidays and weekends and I don't get paid any extra. I will say that I have defered my holidays to my vacation days. I haven't met a pilot that has solved a catering issue or anything else except to call us on the radio to deal with it.

Not even knowing anything of the situation, I can almost assure you (not that you need the reassurance) that 35% of what you would pay for COBRA is still way more expensive than adding you to your wife's benefits.

If I hadn't started this job I probably would do it. The conference calls and sitting in on GoToMeetings are killing my available time to be trite and nasty to people who deserve it. I haven't gone into the CO Forum at large and found anyone to excoriate recently...the last effort at such that I did was at Steve GadFly's request and I thought after reading what I'd wrote that it was less than stellar. I'm also supposed to be cramming for a teaching exam.

Lack of skill in presentation of an argument or web coding is to be expected, honestly. That's not something I would break the guy's stones over. He's an airline pilot: I'd much rather him be focused on continuing to learn the art of piloting as well as he possibly can. What bothers me the most about the entire thing is that it's now blatantly obvious that Capt. Pierce does not have control over his people. I'm all about letting the pilots post, as I love the contributions of doobierw, in addition to the regular cadre of UA pilots that keep their Ask the Pilot thread up and running. That's the one piece of the UA Forum that I take no umbrage with whatsoever. If you're motivated to rep for your union at whatever your job is, I don't think it's too much to ask of that person that they be able to distinguish when the volume and rhetoric should be cranked up or down. At a minimum, the usual claptrap that is in job postings should apply to those guys: "Excellent verbal and written communications skills required."

I'm not certain of that, to be honest. I think if we were to go ruin his day on FT or on the pilot board, all it would take to expose his idiocy (not that he doesn't do that well enough himself) would be a few carefully worded statements. If he chooses to answer with non-answers or dodge the questions entirely, that only proves our point that much more. One should always show up to a battle of wits armed, and I think good old Capt. Jayson forgot to put shells in the clip.

One thing I forgot: has anyone of a pro-union persuasion even posted anything that basically warns him from making an asshat out of himself and furthering a bad stereotype?
