You know what the gamblers say about prizefighters with mustaches. That they spend too much time looking in the mirror and are more interested in enjoying what they see there than getting their faces messed up trying to win the fights.

guess its a good thing his fighting is contained in the boardrooms :)

You've met me and can tell I spend no time looking in the mirror; I just look "too young for my career" without the mustache.

It's true that Amtrak is not really set up for leisure passengers on their "high-speed" services beyond the Washington-NYC corridor (though I think weekend advanced-purchase fares are much more competitive than they used to be). Real high-speed rail (as in Western Europe or Japan) with leisure-oriented fares would be a winner, but no one wants to subsidize Amtrak to that extent.

Anyone taking the train from Baltimore to Boston would have to love train travel, given the presence of WN and FL at BWI. But coming from where you are, isn't it a 2-1/2 hour drive to BWI? It's over 2 hours for me from the Western Philly suburbs. So really the trip from chez CM or fiancee to BOS is closer to 5 or 6 hrs door to door, depending on how early you want to get to the airport, where you park, where you are going in Boston, etc.

A fairer comparison is flying PHL-BOS, where if you buy your plane ticket enough in advance it's cheaper than Amtrak but otherwise Amtrak saves money. There are several threads in the US f:rolleyes:rum complaining about this route. On the rare occasions I go to BOS on business, I will always consider the train, since it takes only about an hour longer door-to-door (I can get off at the BBY station which is a block from the hotels where I usually stay) and costs 1/3 as much. I also get more work done on the train, if that is a consideration. Even Acela F is cheaper than a non-refundable, non-weekend stay plane ticket from PHL to BOS.

Yes and no. If I'm going to fly out of BWI to go north, I wouldn't leave from my house out by the shore. I'd stage from my fiancee's house, since she is about two miles inland from the Delaware River. She can be in Center City in 15-20 minutes, so it's easy to hit 295 South. For BWI-IAH-SEA, we made BWI in under 90 minutes.

Indeed. I have the seven-disc box set on my iPod. It's always nice to hear Class Clown.

I work with machinery on a regular basis and it still looks brand new, without any scratches, nicks, etc. The first one they sent me had a TINY imperfection and they replaced it for free with expedited shipping to ensure I had it in time! If I had it to do over again, I'd definitely get the same type of ring.

Stainless steel, baby. It's good stuff.

Thanks for the link! They have the white gold band I want for a very reasonable price. We're ordering it today...

Congratulations. We've been shopping for bands, but no firm decision on her part yet.

Good choice with WN. I made the mistake once of taking Amtrak from DC to Boston thinking I would get some work done. I totally underestimated what 8 hours on a train would do to me even though I was in Acela F. I got the work done but I really wanted to get off the train before I even hit NY.

Good point, plus also there's the fact that trains do not add lines and dots to my FM.

Wipeout is what I wish I could do to people I dislike. Only catch is that what disqualifies players in the game would not disqualify those I dislike from continuing. They would have to do every event. At least twice.

Our tug driver had to be replaced, it must have hist first day and he did not realize a 747 makes wide turns. We almost clipped a dl widebody.

 I've never had a close call like that, but I can't imagine that it's fun.

It is very difficult to tell what someone with a big mustache looks like without it. I guess if you concentrate on trying to visualize, you can get some idea but the other evening was not a time for that sort of stuff.

Checked the mail this afternoon and saw a letter from CO telling us why they deposited the bonus miles. That day, what should have taken about 2 hours to fly to DEN took 6+ hours. It was all WX related. But, still.. CO apologized and gave us bonus miles. They didn't have to or need to. We understand that WX happens (thunderstorms in IAH, lots o' snow in DEN) It was a nice gesture. Another reason why we continue to fly CO.^

My wife and I did not complain. We never contacted CO at all because of the WX delays. I wonder if someone else did.

Ok....so what do I get for the hundreds of times I've sat on the runway at ROC, BUF, SYR, DCA, IAD, BWI, SDF, BOS, STL, etc. waiting for imaginary weather at EWR to clear? It once took me 9 hours to get home from PIT in an ERJ.....I could have found an amish dude and hitched a ride in his buggy and gotten there faster. over....sorry for that.

I want to be on that show sooo badly....but it's only for residents of California. Dang it! sfogate, can I put down your address as mine on the form? I'm a quiet tenant and I don't need working A/C :D

Seems that I might have been overdue for a trim at CO Do IV, though.

Perhaps I'll get rid of the 'stache and add sideburns (which I did have in the late 90's).

Many of us have not had long sideburns since the 70s.

Given that I only remember one year of the 1970s, I wasn't making any fashion choices at the time ...

You've grown to expect it!!!

I was to take Photog72's plane back to IAH. After going out four or five times, it timed out (crew) and then cxld the next day after going out at least once. Let's just say that particular weekend, DEN-IAH pairs were not the best to have. Fortunately (?) my flight cxld to DEN, so I ended up back in IAH the next day via OMA. Also, I did not have an adorable baby with me to keep happy for the many hours Mr and Mrs Photog72 experienced :)

No, you'd rather have that than the other. Plus1 has chiapet hair.
