Shopping for a wedding band for myself has been seriously . I think I finally found the style I'm looking for, but gold prices are seriously  and I'm not sure I want to go with any alternative metals.

I got a Tungsten carbide ring from e-wedding bands.com a few years ago (wow, time flies) and absolutely love it. I work with machinery on a regular basis and it still looks brand new, without any scratches, nicks, etc. The first one they sent me had a TINY imperfection and they replaced it for free with expedited shipping to ensure I had it in time! If I had it to do over again, I'd definitely get the same type of ring.

And if anyone is bored in Houston tonight, Josh Blue (Last Comic Standing, 2006) will be at Improv on 10/610. If you ask for the "email 2-1 special", it's 2 tickets for $28 for the 1030 show. My wife and I, and 2 other CO DO IVers, will be in attendance.

I used to work right by there and lived just north of there near 635. How I don't miss it...

Well, I miss being able to watch the Byron Nelson from my office window.

Thanks for the link! They have the white gold band I want for a very reasonable price. We're ordering it today...

I got want I wanted, my son is enrolled in a summer school class. It only took three trips to visit them in person, multi phone calls of which 0 were returned and about 2 hours of my time.

I heard one story from the District Office and a completely opposite one from the summer school ladies.

^ Sorry it wasted so much of your time though!

G'night.

Hmmm, if this is how night 1 went, can't wait to hear about night 2!

I took Amtrak all over the country with my dad. When I started looking at colleges (solo), I started flying. Outside of one Acela ride PHL-NYC, a few Amtrak rides MCK-DEN or MCK-OMA to catch a flight (that was about 20 years ago when MCK was without air service) and some quick overseas train trips, I avoid trains. I hate AMTRAK with a passion.

Success....battlefield upgrades for both of us. We cleared T-30 min and a person was nice enough to trade with her so we could sit together. This makes me (i think) 20% for companion upgrades oon the year. The system's still broken but I guess all hope is not lost.

This is my first transcon since the full service was reinstituted. Time to shut off the phone and chill.

Have a good day box.

Hooray! Glad you both cleared and were able to sit together.

Any opinions on the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in LAS?

It's either there or the Renaissance... (I can get the Renaissance for $82/night)

Plus1 and I attended the opening of North Looks South, a Latin American exhibit at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston. It was interesting and there were some very good pieces.

I do this all the time, great use of the freebie nights and car rental coupons.

Good choice with WN. I made the mistake once of taking Amtrak from DC to Boston thinking I would get some work done. I totally underestimated what 8 hours on a train would do to me even though I was in Acela F. I got the work done but I really wanted to get off the train before I even hit NY.

I enjoyed my stay at Planet Hollywood. I've also had some great stays at the Renaissance. The Ren has no casino; the restaurant is pretty decent and the executive lounge is good, though service is spotty. Planet Hollywood is definitely more exciting, but one nice thing - you walk in the lobby and are close to the elevators - unlike most casino hotels where you have to walk and walk. You will get $10 slot bonus when you check in and some other coupons that can be of value if you have use for them. If you want quiet, take the Ren., if you want more action, definitely Planet Hollywood.

to CO

Wife and I took a trip IAH-DEN on April 17. I looked in my Onepass account this morning. I saw 3000 bonus miles deposited on 6/4. I was . Checked the mail this afternoon and saw a letter from CO telling us why they deposited the bonus miles. That day, what should have taken about 2 hours to fly to DEN took 6+ hours. It was all WX related. But, still.. CO apologized and gave us bonus miles. They didn't have to or need to. We understand that WX happens (thunderstorms in IAH, lots o' snow in DEN) It was a nice gesture. Another reason why we continue to fly CO.^

My wife and I did not complain. We never contacted CO at all because of the WX delays. I wonder if someone else did.

As my daughter's bib says, "Spit happens."

I tend to like to stay around the strip area so if that matters then PH is the better option. Baglady is correct if you want action or quiet. I've been wanting to try Envy steakhouse at the Ren, heard it's pretty good.

Not on the Strip but the Westin Casuarina is a nice (non-smoking) SPG possibility with less action than the PHo.
