I'm debating whether or not to sound the klaxon and alert others in my travel group who may be on this flight. I can think of 2-3 off the top of my head but there could be quite a few others.. I know like 12-15 people end up on the same connecting red eye to CDG.
These people are sweet, friendly, college educated people.. but they are really kettle. I couldn't even convince some of them to sign up for a onepass account because they were convinced it cost money. I don't want to panic them but I also dont want them to get bumped because they don't have a seat assignment (very likely) and haven't checked-in until they arrive at the airport (ever more likely.) The group is under a "death to thee who accepts a VDB" decree due to the scheduling of transport and activities on the arrival day in Paris. I suspect a IDB wouldn't go over too well either, if anything, making them miss out on some stuff.

Be careful on that front...the beaches in BZE are only a hair better than that of EYW. There are many, many amazing things about Belize and San Pedro/Ambergris Caye. The beaches are not one of them. The beach is about 30 feet wide in most places and not particularly soft sand. The water is full of turtle grass and not great for swimming. No waves at all. It is not a typical beach destination in that regard. In fact, were I not exposed to some of the best diving in the world there I'd likely never go (or just do a 24-36 hour turn for the sake of seeing it once).
Morning, Box. I might nail down this job that I've been conference calling about this morning. |

Thanks for that. Go to the beach to say you've been there, and then go back to sipping fruity things in the hotel pool? I saw L fares from EWR that included the 762 to IAH for $298, after Labor Day. PHL, shockingly, was almost twice as much on CO.

Thank you all again for the kind words.
Jess has met many of you and when I showed her the posts she started to cry. She is not a fan of the doctor to begin with and this pushed her limits. I know FT is just an "internet community" but for us it's grown into some really great friendships in "real" life. It meant a lot to us to read all of your thoughts. |

The spoiled plat thread is becoming a burr under my saddle. But given the poo I just flung, I have to see where it lands. It's not often that I work a horse and a monkey reference combined with poo into one post. On that prideful note, I'm gonna go shower before my call so I sound at least somewhat human. |

Morning box. I don't know what's gotten me so riled up over the whole companion upgrade thing. Every time it comes up I launch into tirades about how poorly administered (and therefore stupid) the program is. It's a non-benefit as far as I'm concerned. I've never once received an answer from  Insider in regards to any of my, what I believe to be legitimate, questions. |

Amen to this. Especially in The Box.

I know I'm in the vast minority on this, but I think airline/hotel status is stupid. Yes, I very much appreciate -- and take full advantage of -- everything that's given to me because of it. But the way some people wear it like a badge of honor kills me. I suppose it's designed to feed egos, and make people feel better about their brand relationship, but it's not a license to be self-important or look down on anyone else. So what. I have a job that makes me travel frequently. That makes me no different than anyone else on that plane or in the hotel as far as I'm concerned. Yes, I find myself getting impatient when people don't know how the system works. But that's more of a cause of people not paying attention to their surroundings than anything else. My experiences in the non-travel world tell me that it has nothing to do with status. I'm a firm believer that airline status should be renamed:
ETA -- now give me my $#@&ing companion upgrades. I'M ENTITLED TO IT! |

Morning, Box! It's just taken me 90 minutes to catch up on 3 days worth of posts! Man, you guys post a lot!!
Flew back from Dayton, OH yesterday via Cleveland. I can't tell you how many kettles there were in Cleveland trying to board the EWR flight. They were all congregated around the blue carpet (non of them were elite or first) and the poor GA couldn't make them understand that they needed to MOVE!!! Comical!

The picture should make up for it.
http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/j...res/alyssa.jpg Your daughter is absolutely exquisite! It takes me back to those days when my girls were that little. One is now about to be a Junior in High School and the other is just finishing first grade. They grow up so quickly. Enjoy these baby days.

First, thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. It has been one of those days that really wears on the mind and body and your thoughts have been felt.
My wife, Jessica, is home and in bed. The folks at the ER were not able to give us any firm answers but they performed a CT scan on her chest with an iodine IV (don't know the name). This test showed no clot and the doctor ruled that out completely. So, we will wait for the results of the blood work that they ran. She is just worn out mentally and physically and that probably contributed to her blood pressure. That and the fact that the family physician hinted that she might be pregnant (the test came back negative). It's amazing how stressful it is to be told that "you need to go to the ER now!". Hartmann, glad to hear Jess is home and hope the tests come back OK. Give her lots of TLC. Looking forward to the mini-do tomorrow evening, and the pre-game at OH's! |
