I love watching shows like "World's Dumbest Criminals". ... Kid trying to jump the counter gets hit in the throat by a wall coming from nowhere.

On that level, yes. The sad part is that partisanship almost doesn't matter. Both sides of the aisle have screwed this place up in their own ways.

Hartmann, good to hear the tests showed nothing serious. Have a good night's rest the both of you.
Good night Box. |

Yay, finally figured out the multi-quote deal! |

First, thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. It has been one of those days that really wears on the mind and body and your thoughts have been felt.
My wife, Jessica, is home and in bed. The folks at the ER were not able to give us any firm answers but they performed a CT scan on her chest with an iodine IV (don't know the name). This test showed no clot and the doctor ruled that out completely. So, we will wait for the results of the blood work that they ran. She is just worn out mentally and physically and that probably contributed to her blood pressure. That and the fact that the family physician hinted that she might be pregnant (the test came back negative). It's amazing how stressful it is to be told that "you need to go to the ER now!". Turned out to be nothing diagnosable (they did CAT Scans, Spinal Taps, etc.) but I don't regret taking her. |

You said it yourself. It's like one of those wintertime highway 93-car pileups, or any NASCAR race. The appeal is that it is a mess.

Oh, there are definitely positives to be had. I love that I'm two hours from NYC, an hour from Philly, and ~three from DC. I am unwavering in my belief that most of the official structure here needs to be detonated and redone.

That is EXCELLENT!!!!!!!!!! Punish the stupid by almost decapitating them with a blunt object. That wall should be made available to criminal court judges as a sentencing tool.

I guess my tolerance for messes is just too low to endure watching it. I have enough to worry about in my own life. I guess I've just never really gotten the whole schadenfreude thing.

If you look closely at the timing, he was up there for almost 20 seconds - that's why everyone in the background had moved.

The premise of the show is that when such esteemed individuals as Bonaduce, Gary Busey, Tonya Harding, et al believe you're an idiot, you're really in trouble.

We had an office in a borough where it seemed every resident participated somehow in one of the municipal activities, from making a living as a policeman to serving on the zoning board (which Franny did for 10 years). In that place, even the speed trap was for out of towners. It seemed that the prosecutor knew every resident by name. If one came up in front of him, he would frequently only administer a stiff personal admonishment (because he knew that his policeman would not have issued the summons to the local unless it was a really bad violation) and send the chastened party home. But show him a NY or PA driver's license and you better get out your wallet because you would be sure to pay. There is much to like about NJ but you need to be prepared to pay big taxes to support all of the waste at the local level not to mention what is going on in Trenton. |
