Found a clip on YouTube - go in about 55 seconds.

On that level, yes. The sad part is that partisanship almost doesn't matter. Both sides of the aisle have screwed this place up in their own ways.

Ain't that the truth.

Hartmann, good to hear the tests showed nothing serious. Have a good night's rest the both of you.

Good night Box.

That and clothing stores, hair salons, etc.! It's scary -- also read that she was giving Jon a $5/wk allowance, then would throw a fit when he needed more!

You said it -- way too many layers of gov't. Living in Essex County -- big part of our property taxes go to the county. There needs to be a lot more sharing of services between towns & counties. Not sure if the state is doing much of that, either.

Yay, finally figured out the multi-quote deal!

My wife, Jessica, is home and in bed. The folks at the ER were not able to give us any firm answers but they performed a CT scan on her chest with an iodine IV (don't know the name). This test showed no clot and the doctor ruled that out completely.

So, we will wait for the results of the blood work that they ran. She is just worn out mentally and physically and that probably contributed to her blood pressure. That and the fact that the family physician hinted that she might be pregnant (the test came back negative).

It's amazing how stressful it is to be told that "you need to go to the ER now!".

That's what I get for reading a full day's posts in order....I wished her well an hour after she was home and in bed. Glad she's feeling better. I had to take Ms. GadFly to the ER on New Year's Day at about 2:00 AM for a really nasty migrane. She said she had a headache at around 11:00 on New Year's Eve but when she woke me up and said "we have to go to the hospital....NOW", I jumped.

Turned out to be nothing diagnosable (they did CAT Scans, Spinal Taps, etc.) but I don't regret taking her.

I guess my tolerance for messes is just too low to endure watching it. I have enough to worry about in my own life. I guess I've just never really gotten the whole schadenfreude thing.

On Wednesday I was asked what I like about the area (keep in mind I was in Princeton at the time the question was asked) I responded I'm an hour from NYC, an hour from PHL, and 45 minutes from an airport that I can do weekend trip to europe from along with going to many major places in the US and the world on a non stop flight. And if that doesn't work I have JFK and PHL as back up airports.

If you look closely at the timing, he was up there for almost 20 seconds - that's why everyone in the background had moved.

The premise of the show is that when such esteemed individuals as Bonaduce, Gary Busey, Tonya Harding, et al believe you're an idiot, you're really in trouble.

Small towns down this way in Ocean/Burlington are crying to the state that they can't afford police protection if the state starts charging them for Trooper service. If a "town" can't afford to protect itself then guess what? Give up on being a town. Become a neighborhood in a bigger town that has the tax base to afford luxuries like cops.

Furthers my point that the wall is a great penalty for stupidity.

That has hit the nail right on the head. Having been a NJ resident for about 20 years I always marveled when I observed each little town and borough having its own complete infrastructure from police, fire, and building inspections to courts and boards of education.

We had an office in a borough where it seemed every resident participated somehow in one of the municipal activities, from making a living as a policeman to serving on the zoning board (which Franny did for 10 years).

In that place, even the speed trap was for out of towners. It seemed that the prosecutor knew every resident by name. If one came up in front of him, he would frequently only administer a stiff personal admonishment (because he knew that his policeman would not have issued the summons to the local unless it was a really bad violation) and send the chastened party home. But show him a NY or PA driver's license and you better get out your wallet because you would be sure to pay.

There is much to like about NJ but you need to be prepared to pay big taxes to support all of the waste at the local level not to mention what is going on in Trenton.
