This weather is unbelievable. The west side of town all the way out to Katy received 11" of rain and White Oak Bayou is above its banks and almost to the freeway by us.

Good morning ConciergeMike. Getting started early to be ready for the big game this evening?

sbm12 Apr 28, 2009 5:46 am

G'Morning all. I cannot wait to finally get home this afternoon.

And I'm looking forward to slipping back into the comfort of a CO F seat on Friday morning for my trip to BDA. I really do not like the UA F seats at all. The US F seat was OK but just about everything else associated with those flights was not. Hardly a surprise, but still quite .

A trip that was an unfortunate mistake from the very beginning.

Nobody who is at all thinking and who has any experience with airlines would try to get away with starting a mileage run using NK.

Morning! Errands to run, liquor prices to check, a 3:00 interview in AC, and we're having friends over for the game who used to be quite the Devils fans and didn't come back after the lockout. They're slowly creeping back into fandom, and hopefully my cooking and celebration of said guest couple's wedding will only add to the festivity of Game 7.

I managed to get my day off to a fine start in the CO Stinks thread. I haven't had coffee and someone in that thread will soon find out why it is unwise to tangle with me before caffeine has entered my body in sufficient amounts.

I'm another who has not come all the way back after the lockout. But my loss of intensity really does not stem from the lockout. It has to do with the loss of intensity exhibited by too many of the players and the changes in the rules designed to protect the "girlie" players. That took an awful lot out of a great game, even tho it is still not all bad.

Agree totally. The rules are being dumbed down, as are tons of other things. It's amazing how only the U.S. seems to want to curb fighting, too. To be fair, there have been several improvements that I do like. I do like that the NHL has finally given the refs microphone packs. The re-jiggering of the zone sizes and the return of tag-up offsides are also net positives, IMO.

Good morning, all!

It's been quite a weekend...2 airports visited (though neither of them to fly myself), 750-ish miles driven...reunions are great, New Haven was a fun place to go to school, northern NJ traffic on a Friday is WRETCHED, transmission :rolleyes:s are scary, parts still covered by warranty are ^.

And I have about 50 pages of this stuff on which to catch up. :)

Thank you, very belatedly, for all for the LGA driving directions!!

I love the smell of  in the morning.

I've shared a few US war-stories in here before. The lack of logic that's behind that airline never ceases to amaze me. I still can't believe this same group of people is behind successfully launching several hundred-ton metal tubes into the air every day and bring them down safely.

sfogate Apr 28, 2009 6:57 am

Avoid US at SFO, especially on a UA reroute. I heard it from one of their agents, that if a US flight is overbooked and if any of the last 10 bookings that day were made by UA, the US agents will cancel those UA reservations and send the customers back to UA.

That is so wrong I can't begin to tell you, plus it's against the rules. Any ticket that is confirmed must be given a seat on the flight or paid off.

Last year I managed to completely tear apart and put back together an old British car.... Except the transmission... Opened up that box, took one look inside and thought, "busy town".
Packed it up and sent it off to a friend that's rebuilt thousands of 'em. Some things are better off un-learned.

And NJ traffic is always.
