In addition to the one 0.4 miles away, I have four others within 10 miles. Yep - I live in Tennessee (and not one of the big cities, either).

They have standards. No Paris Hiltons allowed.

I don't know much about LA, but isn't it a pretty good rule that you can draw a horizontal line through downtown LA on the map, and only consider staying north of that line, unless one is specifically going to Disneyland?

The W is the best location IMO , but the price is high and parking is high.

The Westin Pasadena is a nice hotel. Ask for room 748 or 749. If you get 749, I spent most of the last six months of 2008 in there. :)

Pasadena is nice and there are plenty of restarants and shopping around that you can walk to. I've only been in the Hilton there so I can't help with the Westin.

The Hilton is a dump next to the Westin. The Hilton has a nice lobby, but the rooms are a flashback. The Westin was a very nice hotel, except for the bloody City of Pasadena and their silly parking deck that you have to use.

I anticipate we'll be all over the city. A nice hotel in an area that wouldn't be too far from restaurants, shopping, etc. — but by no means do we have to be right next door to that stuff either.

True.

+1 for the recommendation on Santa Monica. I also enjoyed the coastal cities in Orange County. Or, get a little crazy and drive the couple hours to PSP or SAN.

The Westin South Coast Plaza is also nice if you are spending time in Orange County.

Parties crashed
Elephants stampeded
Orgies organised
Virgins converted
See? Much less than 75 characters.:D

The Brew Kettle is on Pearl near I71 in front of Generica... I mean Home Depot. Ping me and I'll buy you a beer over there some time.

Both the Marriott Suites and Hyatt Orange County (north tower) are nice places in Anaheim, very close to Disney but also close to all of the Anaheim/Irvine stuff. If you want to come down to SAN, there are a myriad of nice places, especially on the Marriott and SPG side of things.

Flashback is an understatement. I was on the top floor which was very strange. You leave the elevator lobby and go up a couple of steps. Then you walk either direction a few feet and back down the two steps. A real pain with luggage or heading down for a 7 AM meeting before the first cup of coffee, No other floor had this raised floor.
