Say what you want about Colgan's service, but those little Saabs are hard workers, and incredibly reliable. They may be mostly be 10-15+ years old, and look like it inside the cabin, but my experience as a pretty frequent flier on Colgan out of IAH is that they're quite well maintained from a mechanical perspective. Over the years I've only once ever experienced a delay on Colgan due to an issue with the aircraft. Usually if they're not on time, it's because the weather is crap.

And that's my point, the Saabs are great little planes, I'm just surprised we didn't get one of those "OMG!" posts.

Wow, you deserve a gold medal for putting up with all that while sick. Traveling while really sick is the worst; I had a trip in February 2004 that I came down with the flu on, and had to work sick. I honestly thought I was going to die that week.

I very nearly bailed on the whole MR during my Saturday connection via IAH. Desperation for mileage and TravelClub Credits, plus an ample supply of NyQuil and Immodium helped me to pull through.

I stay at the Hotel Beresford Arms when in SFO. I get a check-in amenity as a repeat customer and partake extensively in the free afternoon wine and cheese reception. Planning ahead, I often get a sub $100 a night rate.

I love row 7 on the SAAB.

Never have to worry about moving for W&B and it is more legroom :D

No SPG Points, so that would be a no-go for me.

IAH-BTR? Check for when LSU's spring break ends. That route can be like IAH-LBB and loaded with them, although it seems a lot of them probably do MSY instead. IAH-OKC might be another one to look at, for the end of OU's spring break.

Last spring the final IAH-ATL flight on Thursdays and Fridays (ERJ that leaves around 9:00 PM) was almost always sold out, and sometimes they'd have to really beg people to take a bump, as it always required an overnight stay.

I don't think it's that bad. Especially compared with some of the places I've stayed at while paying far more.

Any Starwood recommendations for a weekend in LA? I need to get this stay booked soon, as it's for the weekend after next. Looking for good hotel, parking that's not outrageous, and a decent rate. Any recommendations?
