I had no idea, that's interesting. So, I wonder if NJT gets to keep them when ACES fails.
Oh, wait, this in NJ. They'll have to pay a 25% mark-up from the original cost and won't have a choice in the matter. :D

Would be much funnier if it wasn't so likely to be way too close to the truth.

They paid up a few years ago so that's the only reason they put it in service. It would help if they actaully advertised it in the slightest but I guess the casinos don't know their customer base to even have considered it to have been a good idea.

There's a ridiculous amount of casino traffic from North Jersey and the five boroughs, and even a little bit outlying on LI. I think I've seen a Mastic driver's license. There are people who drive 4+ hours and can eliminate the drive by combining LIRR and ACES. I'd be willing to hazard a guess that the lack of advertising has something to do with the lack of parking garage revenue that would accompany a large-scale use of the train. IIRC parking garage monies when the casino charges the flat $5 go to the deceptively named Atlantic City Improvement Fund, and anything over $5 during peak events is (I think) casino profit. Now you know why Trump Plaza almost always charges $20 for self park...oh right, they're in Chapter 11. Could people refusing to park there and then being too lazy to leave their hotels and go play there have something to do with it? Nah - blame the smoking ban and PA slot parlors. I find it hilarious that Harrah's cited PA slot parlors as a competitive issue when they own one. Such a case is also further proof that a real hotelier would never get a top job in AC, as nearly all of the executives are ex-floorpeople.
