There's a ridiculous amount of casino traffic from North Jersey and the five boroughs, and even a little bit outlying on LI. I think I've seen a Mastic driver's license. There are people who drive 4+ hours and can eliminate the drive by combining LIRR and ACES. I'd be willing to hazard a guess that the lack of advertising has something to do with the lack of parking garage revenue that would accompany a large-scale use of the train.
Why do all that when you can hop a cheaper bus and it's faster. |
We should have an ACES D:rolleyes:!

I marginally prefer the 346. 744 upstairs is nice, though, especially now that it is all UC. Why not try them both?

I think it's lack of advertising is by far their number one issue. Cost of the service is problem number 2. Infrequent service is number 3. 4th, it's a long train ride, and 5th and final issue, it only stops at NYP and Newark.
Why do all that when you can hop a cheaper bus and it's faster. Lack of advertising is probably now an economic choice, but if it wasn't, the advertising would be lobbied against privately by people with their hand in the cookie jar. Cost of service would have been almost even when gas was at $4. Infrequent service is a nonissue because it's designed to be a weekend shuttle for the upscale gaming market and that's it. The casinos think that the train is easier than driving or bussing, but they're ignorant of the fact that buses give out slot coupons when the train does not (that I know of). Stopping at NYP and Newark is also not the issue you think it is. The target market is NYC and surrounding. While I could see people refusing to park at Newark, NYP is an easy gateway for many of the people that the ACCVA had in mind when cooking up this idea. |
Delay is approaching 6x longer than actual flight time.
A big, fat, |

But he also could be sitting in the front cabin of a DL E-175, sucking on a drink and snoozing. Forget about fighting your way across the district for the Acela. Once the work day is over, I just want to fall down and don't care what happens as long as they get me home eventually.
