This reminds me, i saw the ACES train ride down the track in Edison this weekend.

It's sad that they gave it four of the new double-decker cars and two engines. Are the loads still ridiculously light? Can you get a level to yourself and have a private party?

CM maybe you should setup your private bar on one of the ACES trains. :)

Doubtful. Passenger manifests and all.

I feel that if you locked yourself in the broken bathroom, you could pull it off.

I think i'm going to redeem VS awards via ANA. There rewards for UC are only 63k for east coast to LHR and i have a stack of Amex MR points which i have yet to use.

That's interesting. The transfer ratio looks to be 1:1 ... Do they charge an absurd fuel surcharge on award tix? I note that the ANA web site says, "Awards cannot be issued for one sector travel." Does that make things like EWR-LHR on VS a no-go or does that mean that one-way travel is not allowed?

Haha. Just like anything else related to Atlantic City, the people will complain until they get <insert here>, ignore pleas to utilize/patronize <insert here>, and then gripe when <insert here> complains that they are not staying afloat and are therefore ending their relationship with Atlantic City. Ref: Boardwalk Bullies, The. There was a vocal minority that religiously supported minor league hockey in AC, and when the Bullies said they needed to hit X sales goal to stay in the city, the surrounding area apparently thought that the press release was a prank and they stopped going to games. That franchise has since moved to Stockton, CA...which is ironically about the same distance from an NHL franchise that AC is to an AHL and an NHL team, along with being slightly more distant to three other NHL clubs.

That's how I interpret it as well.

I don't see the point of this. Sure, it would probably be an IT headache to combine a debit of miles and a real financial transaction in the same record...but cashing miles in is still reducing a liability and if I were the airline, I'd be doing everything I could to encourage customers of my airline to assist me in reducing my liabilities. I know that's a simplistic way of looking at it, but I just now thought to expound on the topic.

I've only done the 744, but the 346 has lots of admirers.

The casinos paid for the rail cars as well as the nicer interiors so there was no loss of cars to NJT. The desiel locos were also paid for by the by the casinos but NJT can use them Mon-Thurs. if they want. Now the electic locos are a different issue. Not really a problem for Saturday and Sunday but I can see there being issues with Friday as this now forces the maintenane guys to have one more loco in working order instead of sitting around waiting for them to work on it.
