I spent $100 more than that just to get flights to the cr@phole tourist trap that is NAS, and hostel prices in AMS are significantly cheaper than the Sheraton Cable Beach.

If he bails at these prices, I shall disown him as a friend.

:)

I had mine in MSY, so I could not say no to LAS. :)

Agreed. I despise the NBA and am a rabid fan of college hoops.

March madness is my Christmas / July 4th / Kwanzaa / Groundhog Day / Boxing Day / Talk like a Pirate Day all rolled into a 3 week orgy of not working, losing a ton of money, and eating crow when my (highly ranked) team chokes in the first round for the 982350832b40823049r832 straight year.

If I wasn't going to ORD that weekend, I'd be down to take his spot.

That's not reason enough to disown him?

These are some of the best TATL prices I've seen ex-IAH in years.

It was so . I hate The Bahamas. They weigh your wallet upon arrival, then constantly scheme how to gradually (or not so gradually) lighten it continuously during the course of your stay. You gotta love the 15% gratuity that is built in to all services, resulting in horrendous service levels across the island.

We have the tail end of that after some wicked storms last night. Sunny today but nasty wind gusts. :td::td:

I was dealing with the rain in the BNA burbs. Of course, DL wouldn't let me take the earlier flight out of ATL before the rain arrives (without paying $50, of course). So I'm sitting in the airport and hoping my UG clears on this second flight ...

Congrats - our women's team made it but our men's team lost in the conference championship.

Granted, flights were disgustingly high but at least I will have something to do when the money well runs dry. :)

Flights still look cheap compared to what I was facing for NYE - that's the reason I had a "return" flight from BNA to LAS remaining over the weekend (booked an award rather than pay $600 OW).

You would be welcome. It now looks as if there's a sizable contingent of FT  that will be adding to the mayhem. If 85% of the participants are able to return alive (or without interpol warrants), I'll consider it a great success.

Yikes. Flights were in the $1000 range for me, so I am putting together a bunch of one way tickets and spending an extra night. Thanks to the Flamingo for comping me the extra night!

Same here in CLE, plus I think we can say the same for NYC. What is interesting is the fact that the low fares are reaching in to the busy season, which does not bode well for the industry.

Yep. Last year, AMS was about $900a/i at the cheapest for Easter weekend. Less than half that, this year.

I'm slowly starting to adjust to the realization that I'm done with SkyTeam. Looks like BA will be my secondary earning program, once I pull the plug on BD (or, more accurately, once LH pulls the plug on it). Time to learn which AA routings regularly feature discounted Q-UPs...

My alma mater - Miami University - has advanced to the Sweet Sixteen and it was a blast for us.

I've heard the same re: football, and college football has started to get interesting to me, except for the scam that is the BCS.

I have that same excitment toward the Cup playoffs, but without the money loss...no one I know watches as much as I do or bets on the games.

I shudder to think what the ALCO is capable of in AMS for a bachelor party.

The odd thing is that I'm not seeing any associated drop in premium cabin travel domestically. Y fares from SAN in the lower buckets are hovering at or slightly above where they were before the Great  Oil Spike of 2008 and F is about $1200. Most markets I look at are priced about the same way, with a notable exception being AUS and SAT which are sub $800 for F with a plane change in ATL. So yeah, I can get to Europe in Y for about half of what I'll pay to get to IAH in F. Something seems amiss, but who am I to question fare bucket positioning?

Domestic F fares have always been weird. There are some stellar values out there, though.
