So, you did that flight once and the second time you couldn't?

On the return we diverted to KIX for a "technical stop."

Yes, I was booked on it for August of 08. TG decided to divert that flight PandyLand, never to return.

Is Norwegian bus poo lighter than jet fuel? Could save weight that way too.

rolov I initiated the transfer this morning, looks like i'm going to do a SQ reward on LAX-SIN and likely a BD reward to get from SIN to KUL. If I added the SIN-KUL leg onto the SQ reward it went from 60k to 90k.

ETA: Screw that, i can pay $63 and fly Jetstar from SIN to KUL. :D

That is why i had suggested the JFK-SIN-KUL for 71k in F :D

Yeah, but you could deduct all the upkeep, depreciation, etc. -- so it would be worthwhile, as long as you are able to collect enough rent to cover your costs. I would think that in this economy, the rental mkt is pretty good as people as scared/unable to buy, right now.

But I hear ya -- it's a pain to pack stuff up & store it. Would you be getting any ex-pat benefits w/the job -- like housing help, transportation assistance?

Just a plane ticket out there. I suspect someone I know out there is looking to move to a new place and that has something to do with her bringing this opportunity to my attention. I know the office is on a main bus route in Burnaby (next to Vancouver)

But the LAX-SIN nonstop seems elusive. I can get JFK-FRA-SIN on LH. :D

Though, I am still tempted. Any idea when they are going to swap the 744?

What's the alt? Stopping in LA for SFO for a 3 hour layover? I'd prefer the nonstop.

Having done the 16.5 hour JFK - BKK world's second longest flight, it's really not so bad (up front).

Did you use miles for it? If so what airline and what did it cost (in miles)?

I think i've hit a new low. I'm trying to find out how to get a xml feed of fare updates to catch fare mistakes. :D

Maybe it's time for a new job.

US*. I believe it was 90k / person in J (for the trip we actually got to take).

*As cr@p as they are, I never had a problem redeeming miles.

US has some of the best redeeming opportunities out there. They have that going for them and likely only that. :D

I just cashed out 250k for two people to do EWR-ORD-HKG-BKK-HKT-BKK-LAX-JFK on a mix of UA and TG.

But US has to stay in business for those chances to be out there.

And acquiring those miles is often not pleasant.
