I don't know what we'll do once school is a full time gig. I do know one parent that actually paid the school their daily fee that they got from the state if they wouldn't ding her son for missing school. |

Never, ever tell the school that you are taking your child on a trip. They don't get it and will give her enough homework to make you cry. My kids got sick alot. ;)

This Hilton HHonors racing game is addictive. I realized that if I stay in the top 1000 to the end of the competition that I'll be an HH Diamond for my honeymoon stays in BCN and MAD.

Once you get off at the Transit Center, you can take the Metrorail, north, one stop to Bell. Walk, east a few blocks (.3 miles), and you're there. Bring an umbrella or rain coat. Forecasts are calling for cooler temperatures (highs in the upper 50s) and rain.

Better to have a little sucker than a little boy that pees all over you when you change his diaper. Thank god that only happened to me once.

The woman who lived across the street from me had two little boys, and her worst two diaper change stories involved a golden shower and an  look that went horribly wrong, and another one where she had just gotten French nails put on, only to find later that the smell of poo following her around all day was from some  living under her acrylic nail.

Philippine Airlines, I think... So, in the spirit of drunken posting, I am trying to come up with something clever or smart to post, but everything that I can think of is kinda  How come drunk driving, drunk dialing, drunk texting are all discouraged, yet drunk p:rolleyes:sting is encouraged? I went for wine at the wine bar tonight, had a great Argentinian Wine. There was a Celtic band there auditioning for St. Patties Day, I will be returning! Drunk posting is good because if you become sober in the middle of the night and re-read the post you can erase it before others get wind of it! |

Cool, thanks! From what I understand, hiring a cab for a half-day in Lima is relatively cheap ($35-$40, tops). Also, I'm staying at the Sheraton (close to the historic center). It gets terrible reviews, but I need the SPG stay credits and bonus points.
Yah the Sheraton is really old, but I think they just fixed it up a bit. (That was the REALLY nice hotel to stay at in the 70s) It is kind of far away because most people stay in the Miraflores area of town. You have to take the via expresa all the way to the end. Larco Mar is very toursity and does have pretty good views as do any other of the park areas on the Malecon. On the Malecon near Larco Mar they also do Paragliding if you are into that kind of thing. Since you are going to be there on a weekend I would hit the Plaza in Miraflores (right next to Parque Kennedy). On the weekends they generally have a bunch of artists (painters and sculpter) set up going around the plaza. There is also a Dunkin there on Larco-you'll be able to see it from the Park. There are supposed to be some 'happening' bars on Berlin which is on the south western corner of the Parque Kennedy. If you want to buy Peruvian gift items (there is a lot of silver) go to the El Mercado Indio (which is on Petit Thouars and Enrique Palacios right next to Hiraoka-elec. app. store). Food - if you like seafood there is tons everywhere, right now there is a popular street with really good restaurants it is called calle La Mar (not sure about the calle part). There is also the Peruvian/Chinese - Chifa that you can find everywhere as well. A good place is called Wa Lok (I think it is on Angamos). If you want to try anticuchos (kabob of cow heart) there was/is an area in Barranco that the whole street was restaurants for anticuchos. All the grosary stores have a little food area where you get everyday typical food and eat it there, cafeteria style, you pay by weight. (I think the Vivanda on Benavides and 2 blks up from Larco has a larger area unless they have changed it since it was Sta. Isabel) And also for breakfast, tamales or humitas (the ones from Wong (grosary store) are pretty good or on sundays outside of the Churches) or even a chicharron sandwhich. Oh and also if you want I can give you the name and number of my taxi guy, he usually picks me up and drops me off at the airport - been using him for about 8 years. I am not sure how much he will ask for half a day but I know we have hired him for that to bring people around. PM me if you want it. I kind of went over board above, but if you have any other Qs just ask! |

For some reason, I wish I was flying today! But no, have to wait for a couple more weeks until my next trip... Any B:rolleyes:x recommendations as to what to do in DUB fro three days? I've never been there before, but Mrs. Enmascarad:rolleyes: has about 10 years ago... Should we stay in DUB all of the time? Drive around Ireland? A bit of each? What do people drink there? (Besides Guinness, that is...) G'night sfogate! |
F-ing Hilton challenge kept me awake.
Kabob of cow heart? Heard it tastes like chicken. |
HHonors is better than a crying baby keeping you awake. You'll eventually get those days.
sfogate, I had lice as a child. My mom did everything to get rid of them. Nothing seemed to work, except shaving my head. |
