Yes.

No idea. I reloaded the reservation page and it showed up. Of course, there's no availability on the outbound.

I've been watching for that link on a ressie made in mid-January for an intl excursion that begins at the end of May. It comes, it goes again for a few weeks, it pops up again, it goes away - very irritating. The R availability itself does the same, at least through co.com, but they're not even synced to each other.

Anywho, i finally bit, and now I'm trying to decide if i want aisle, window, or "double aisle D."

Correct. However, I have had success with some PClub agents waiving the fee.

That's one thing UA is definitely better at. I finished a meeting very early last week and went to the airport and used the chicken and promptly changed my flight without any hassles or fees.

I really wish CO would at least try and protect the empty seat next to a Platinum. I'm still in the clear for my flights to/from FRA this weekend, but I'm getting worried oh what will happen at check in...

From my observations on TATL flights, many Europeans don't get pre-assigned seats so they get assigned seats at the 24 hour mark. What can look like a nice empty plane can be full. That said, when I flew back from HNL on the 764 the kiosks showed all the middle seats to be occupied in the blue section but when the door closed, all of the middle seats were empty. I think in that case the blocked the seats for weight distributiion purposes as they put three really heavy pallets in the cargo hold.

The seat map is filling up pretty good, but the numbers on SeatCounter are not making an op-up look very likely. :(

It's still going to be a (big!) stretch, but the SeatCounter numbers are improving. The flight is now showing Y5 B4.

If it fills up and they don't have any seats in BF, I may just take the bump and fly out the next day.

Naturally! :) SeatCounter is also showing J9 so a VDB is probably unlikely.

Paging rkkwan, Where is the best place to get some pictures of planes comming into LAX? Near the In-N-Out (Sepulveda/Lincoln)?

I'm hoping the same for GRU flights. The cabin is probably around 50-60% seated. An op-up would be nice.

I'm no rkkwan, but I've spotted at LAX before, so I'll give my input.

To see arrivals, go to the small "park" across from In-N-Out. To see departures, go to Imperial Hill (on Imperial Ave on the south side of the airport). You'll need a pretty long lens for Imperial Hill but at In-N-Out, they'll be right on top of you.

At the In-N-Out is very good , he may know other spots too.
I watched the A380 land for the first time at LAX a few years ago from the IN-N-OUT it was packed with people and media.

The pics I did 9 days ago were from the Imperial Hill. I have eaten at that In-N-Out, and didn't like the low angle from there. Some others have suggested going into one of those tall private garages, but that require paying. I was using a Canon 40D (1.6x crop factor), 70-200 lens, mostly with a 1.4x converter (until it got dark and I took the extender off).

The Imperial Hill location is awesome for take-off pics from the 2 southside runways, but not for the other action. Also consider that LAX run their operation a lot like 2 seperate airports - North and South. The southside aircraft - AA, UA, CO, etc will mostly use the south runways, while US, NW, and in particular WN will use the north runways. If you have a fetish for 73Gs from a particular airline , then go to In-N-Out.
