They had to close down a section of I-10 to allow a fleet of replacement buses to come along-side the HOV lane, then transport us into Downtown.

I saw that fiasco as I drove to work... My wife called and said the water is continuing to rise there and that some of the cars are now under water.

Afternoon, Box! 90 around Boston today - that's just insane. Almost makes me want to go back to Bogota.

Instead, I'm burning up all of my expiring US miles and heading to TUS this weekend, where it's at least a dry 9:rolleyes:

That's inexcusable, especially since opening the HOV lanes requires a Metro employee to drive the full length of the lane and manually move gates. They should have been fully aware of the situation with that flooding.

They must have opened the downtown gate first, around 4:30am, before it flooded and then drove out to the gates on the north side.

At any rate, it appears that the White Oak and Buffalo Bayou confluence has just about reached the roadway at I-45 north and I-10 west.

At one time I thought so too, but then I flew a 738 delivered after about the first 5-6 739-ERs were delivered, and it had the old seats. Others have posted the same here.

I stand corrected. Interesting... they must have a warehouse of the old seats somewhere.

Or they give you a zillion miles for compensation.

That's true. They do open the gates at the end of the HOV and work backward to the start of the lane. I didn't think about the water still rising.

:D For the record the woman thought I was an employee of IAH and not Shipley. I can only aspire to that.

I had to giggle at the thought of a "surrogate otter" trying to manage a fleet of IIlyushin's and Tupolev's transporting yak herders throughout the 'stans.

Just lost all internet, phone, and TV so I'm stuck doing everything on my 1/2 charged PDA. Thanks a lot Comcast! They'd better get this up and running soon.

Houston Flooding

Why does this city flood so much? Growing up in south Florida, we had tons of rain, but never this much flooding. At least it knocked the swine flu off the top of the newscasts. You wouldn't even know there was a swine flu if you saw the news today.

Comcast is the epitome of . In the last week alone they have...
  • Disconnected our home service by not paying attention and terminating the wrong service
  • Called and left cryptic a message to call them back about who knows what
  • Refused mail from my mail server (Which is hosted by C:rolleyes:mcast) and then claimed that they were not blocking anything (they've done this before)

Sometimes you have no choice, I live in a comcast area and FIOS is not available, and I can't really put a dish on my roof or out the window of the apartment . The board for the Condo Association at Del Boca Vista Phase  voted no.

Until recently, they were the only game in town for TV. I recently dumped them for Internet access.

By the way, I called the number that the Comcast message told me to call ("Urgent message...") and found it was just a voicemail maze. With no idea what I was calling about I decided to just hang up.

Because there is no decent alternative. Fios isn't around my neighborhood, and likely won't be for a while, so I can get 1/4 the internet for the same price and go with DirectTV, but then it's a giant hassle.
