Yeah, we have one of those lists as well. She doesn't understand that me going to a country before we go together actually benefits her in the long run.

Always use an ATM at your final destination to get local currency.

Now onto Plan B. I already have my cash.

do you think it's better to exchange money in the airport in JFK or LHR, or a local bank in London?

Where am I going to get the best rate?

I always use the ATM , it all depends on what fee your bank charges you but the rates are always good.
I also use American Express as they don't charge commission at most places.

Plan B would be to go to a bank in London and have your USD exchanged there. Exchange places at airports typically have high service fees.

Disclaimer: While I almost always follow Plan A or Plan B, I will admit that in BRU, I ended up exchanging most of my money at the hotel!  Bad sdm1130... I guess I just needed convenience at the time.

So far I'm only 5/8 on upgrades for my BWI-SEA runs this weekend.

Don't worry - I fly to SEA or PDX almost every week, and if they don't clear in advance, they will clear at the gate.

Thanks for the tips ^

So I said I have plenty of get out of trouble credit I earned from the last minute Tokyo trip she got in SQ C and I would like to exchange some of it for removal of 1 banned country.

Her response was " You can't just transfer between the 2 programs , what do you think this is , BMI "

Lol.

I was forced to use the TravelEx at EWR last summer becasue of a WX. I was going to get picked up in YVR but because of the several hour delay I was told she was going to sleep and I should just grab a cab. (I'm safe posting that as she's on a KLM flight for the next several hours and then won't have internet access for a few days) Then I remembered I didn't have any of that funny bright colored money for the cab.
