I will have to plan a trip now in April with a connection in IAH. With 50 seats I can't imagine missing out on an upgrade.

Yep. Even in 2005 when I was a Silver that was upgraded only about 40% of the time, I had a battlefield upgrade on EWR-IAH on an overbooked 777 late on a Sunday afternoon. And that was when all of the 777s had 48 BF seats.

My plan is to continue drinking at the PC. I'll keep my bag with me until later that evening and check in to the hotel after the event. At least that is the plan as of right now.

What are the odds that a zeroed-out flight is in reality oversold?

Quick question, can you split a PNR online (both people have their OP# in the res)? If not, when you call in, does splitting incur a change fee or any other type of fee?

Look for the "Divide this reservation" link when viewing it.

I believe it is actually "Separate traveler(s)". There are no fees associated with splitting a record.

Thank you both very much. ^:D

I am staying with my parents and my dad will be attending all events unless he has a work issue that comes up (not uncommon). So I will be at the airport all day on Friday....:p

The Marriott bell desk will likely hold your bag if you ask nicely. If they won't, I'll do it for you since I am actually staying at the Marriott.

I may take you up on that as I am bringing 2 large empty suitcases :o. As you know, I just moved and my new apt doesnt have anything so I am slowly going to bring back pots/pans and other stuff so I don't have to re-buy everything up here.

You can leave your bags in my room at the Marriott, if you wish.

Am I still the only one going to the DO from Chicago?? My flight is at 2 something and my office is right next to ORD. I guess I have to head out to the airport around 10 and drink for 4 hours at the PC before my flight to get up to speed with most people going :p

(except xyzzy of course, he's bringing the wife and only drinks seltzer)
