Becareful what you wish for. I don't miss the medical bills from the stress related stuff. Granted I did it back when they didn't have software pushes like now and I had to deal with Bayon VINES. (did I just date myself? ;))

I love how my IAH-ATL flight tomorrow is ridiculously empty in the back, has one first class seat sold, and nobody's been upgraded. There's seven open seats in F, and hardly anyone in the back of the plane, yet no EUAs. Guess this is going to be like last Friday's experience on the same flight, where most of the upgrades were processed at the very last minute — except last Friday, this flight had a lot more people on it.

I find myself beating my head regularly when dealing with family and their computer issues. Of course, if I don't know about something, they get confused since "I'm good with computers" and that apparently means I need to know every application and scenario.

Increased bandwidth and quality remote control applications are a godsend for such troubleshooting tasks. Now when my parents call me to ask a computer question I don't even let them explain it. I simply start a remote support session and have them just repeat the tasks they were doing. So much easier to figure things out that way. I just got off the phone with a client in midtown where I solved a problem the same way. No need to change out of my FT thong and pajamas.

Well, I know of Banyan VINES, but never had to implement it. I did spend plenty of time on 10Base2/ThinNET ethernet solutions (the coax stuff with the T connectors and terminators) and Netware 3.x, but I didn't really get into IT as a legitimate job until around Apple's OS 7.5.3 and Windows 95, along with plenty of IPX/SPX and Netware, just for fun.

That doesn't help much when 80% of their questions are "I can't get on the internet."

It all made sense to me. I'm glad I never had to deal with coax. Sitting on the floor adding a second RJ-45 jack 18 months after they wired the place because they couldn't imagine why everyone would need a computer at their desk was so much fun.

Interesting. I installed the Espanol plug-in on my machine and there's a rolling eyes emoticon taking a siesta next to a jug of sangria.

I'm wondering if box participants would know the answer to my complicated fare basis question.

I'm attemping to book a discount A fare. 3/4 legs have booking class A available. However, 1 doesn't. Continental.com won't pull the discounted A fare because of 1 A missing.

The way United works is that IF a first class booking class is not available, it will simply book you in Y but still make the A fare valid. I know Delta does the same.

Is there a way of doing this? CO.com won't let me do it :(
