I don't recall midges being terrible in Edinburgh itself. Perhaps a few when hanging out on the Meadows or Arthur's Seat, but never swarms. August is definitely Festival season, though. The population of Edinburgh likely doubles or triples during the Festival. It's a zoo.

Worst bug infestation I've dealt with was sand fleas on Guanaja (one of the Bay Islands in Honduras). They would eat you alive.

I think I'll try out the Metro IAH Express Bus service today.

Paying $15.:rolleyes::rolleyes: instead of the $1.25 #102?

Yes, because every time I have waited for the 102 on Travis around 5pm, each driver that stops tells me that his particular bus doesn't go all the way to IAH. After a half hour of waiting for one that did, I gave up, and decided I wouldn't try that again. Perhaps Metro cuts back on services that go all the way to IAH around Rush Hour...

Also, IIRC, from Downtown the 102 is a Zone 4 ride. With the new rate hikes, that would now be $3.75. Still cheaper than $15, but not worth the hassle if I can't even get on one that goes to IAH.

Hahaha... Thanks for the explanation! $3.75 on the 102? What a rip off!

Anyways, I still find it incredible that the airport bus from LAX to Union Station downtown is only $6 (up from $4 last year).

I'm guessing I'm not the only one who is checking his cash balance every hour.

I finally decided to start packing for this weekend's trip and checked the weather forecast. High tomorrow in PTY is going to be 98 degrees Fahrenheit. Ouch.

It's oppressively humid but you'll probably spend a few hours watching the operations of the Canal.

Yes. Yes, I will. Preferably with a stack of ice cold beers by my side, or at least reasonably accessible. Should be fun, even with the heat.

The ABE "flight" is unloading luggage just outside the windows of the PC right now. :D

Lanzarote is great -- if you actually take the time to leave whatever resort you are staying in. When I was there the people around us were all British and had all been going there for years. None of them had ever explored anything on the island except the resort. Then again, it's probably become overbuilt since I was last there.

Europe (9): AMS, LGW, LHR, STN, MAN, MXP, CDG, FCO, ARN
Middle East (1): DXB
