There's a dry area in Houston? I learn something new everyday.

Didn't they close down the TPA call center? That by far was my favorite out of all of them.

I spoke with a supervisor based out of TPA while delayed in BRU last week.

That's good to hear. I thought it had gotten chopped with all the cuts a few years back.

Hartmann I will have a car and give rides so you can move me out of the 'Need rides' list.

For those of you that can give rides.....I'm staying at the Doubletree and will need a ride to/from the brunch.

Understand. It should be a good time. The only other time I was in NOLA was with a scout group back in my teen years and when debating in college we had a tournament there on Madi Grae weekend!

You picked one of the few weekends of the year I won't be in MSY.

Yea, the likely hood of that is like getting a FC ticket on CO to LBB!

:)

Yet another reason to have a cell phone cam. I was there but wouldnt a YouTube video have done that more justice. Perhaps we could recreate on our way from the E PC to the Marriot????

Alright, for the DO IV Sunday Brunch crew, Shade, the restaurant I mentioned before, can handle a reservation of 30 people as long as we are willing to sit at a few different tables (like 15 at two tables or 10 at 3). I figured it was a good compromise and put in a reservation.

They also serve booze in the mornings there. Not sure if they'll have margaritas (I assume they do) but I'm positive that they can do a Bloody Mary.

Since it is in a dry area of town, I have already put my driver's license down for TABC, so that won't be an issue.

Anyway, is that cool with everyone? I wish we could do Empire as their drinks and food are great, but Shade has good food as well.

Shade is located at 250 W 19th St. Houston, TX 77008 (map)

I live a few blocks away so I don't think it will be an issue for me to give rides.

If you are coming from the airport, you can take I-45, the Hardy Toll Road, or US-59 south to I-610 West. Exit Yale St. and take a left on Yale (south). Continue on Yale to 19th St. and take a right (west). Shade is an old strip center and there is a large parking lot across the street as well as plenty of street parking.

Sounds GREAT! I remember once in Conroe I visited a Taco Cabana were they wouldnt serve me because I have a Nevada DL. I looked at them shocked and thought "Hmmm. I live in a city were slcohol flows 24/7 and never go out, but the one time I want a drink when out with friends in Houston, I cant!

Shade works for me. MR BL will be solo at the DO Fri night as I will still be wild in Vegas. I guess since this is his 5th DO he doesn't need me there ;). I arrive 530 AM Sat just in time for a shower and change in the pclub before the day begins.

If you at the LAS PC perhaps you can do a call-in to the E PC Pre-DO. ALso make sure the hubby knows about the pre-DO festivities!

To those of you in the northeast, looks like you better "hunker down" at the beginning of next week. One forecaster believes something big is going to happen.

"Hunker down" is a Houston thing before/during hurricane Ike.

Operation J.Ed. Bump successful. I have a $400 voucher on DL.

Afternoon, Box. I'm not my normal Chatty Cathy self because I have limited connectivity at the fiancee's house. Her laptop is in the shop. :(

I'm staying at Hampton Inn next door but will happily hoof it to Doubletree. I'm still in the need ride category and I wouldn't want someone to have an extra stop just for me.

In other news, I'm going to offsite park at PHL and shuttle in. The timing doesn't work for mass transit from this side of the river, nor does the timing work for getting picked up from mass transit. The golf mini-do crew should still have my cell number, so I'll meet the rest of y'all wherever works for the majority.

A co-worker just brought back some popcorn from Garrett. Cheese and Carmel mix. Sounds weird but its good. My question to him when he told me what he got was "what, did you get the stoners special?" Evidently he was not the only one that heard me ask him that. :o

^^^

I just finished the last item on my "to do" list and my 2pm conference call has been indefinitely postponed.

... do I go home or do I FT for the next 2 hours? (and still leave the office at 4)

I'd rather see 4 feet of snow on the Jersey Shore than say that I put any stock in what Bowtie Boy has to say. I know that's your old office, photog, but he gets on my nerves.
