Afternoon, Box. I'm not my normal Chatty Cathy self because I have limited connectivity at the fiancee's house. Her laptop is in the shop. :(

I'm staying at Hampton Inn next door but will happily hoof it to Doubletree. I'm still in the need ride category and I wouldn't want someone to have an extra stop just for me.

I thought the DT was cheaper than the HI, or did you use points?

One night points and one night on a BMG cert that my mother had due to a security breach at the HI EWR.

put any stock in what Bowtie Boy has to say.

Up here in NY they're calling for a "rain event" early next week with temps in the 40's. I don't know much about much, but I think if we have rain in NY, you're fixin to have rain in Philly.

By the way, does anyone have a clue why the West Side Highway smelled like maple syrup last night? I've never smelled that before...

I think I need to start doing the same. I'm running low on UA vouchers, i'm down to my last $200. :(

He's a tad better than Willard Scott though, so he's got that going for him.

"I heard the weather guy on CNN talk about a 'rain event'. Holy s**t, Dave, I've gotta get tickets to that."

Alright, for the DO IV Sunday Brunch crew, Shade, the restaurant I mentioned before, can handle a reservation of 30 people as long as we are willing to sit at a few different tables (like 15 at two tables or 10 at 3). I figured it was a good compromise and put in a reservation.

They also serve booze in the mornings there. Not sure if they'll have margaritas (I assume they do) but I'm positive that they can do a Bloody Mary.

Since it is in a dry area of town, I have already put my driver's license down for TABC, so that won't be an issue.

Anyway, is that cool with everyone? I wish we could do Empire as their drinks and food are great, but Shade has good food as well.

Shade is located at 250 W 19th St. Houston, TX 77008 (map)

I live a few blocks away so I don't think it will be an issue for me to give rides.

If you are coming from the airport, you can take I-45, the Hardy Toll Road, or US-59 south to I-610 West. Exit Yale St. and take a left on Yale (south). Continue on Yale to 19th St. and take a right (west). Shade is an old strip center and there is a large parking lot across the street as well as plenty of street parking.

Sounds good to me.

Further north. Near the GWB.

Speaking of H&H making pancakes, I got a mailer last night for new Dunkin' waffles.

I need to do it on CO... One of the IAH-EWR (connecting in CLE) flights is B1 Y1 so I may try to jump on that this weekend.

Bowtie boy does have a good gut feeling of these things. I remember he started with them about 1 day before some big snow storm hit.

Alan Casper has an even great gut feeling of snow storms.

It's likely rain for us but it warrant watching.

For the DO Brunch, are we sure they serve alcohol on SUNDAY mornings?

No. I avoid MSY like the plague during Mardi Gras. The Significant Otter and I are going to Stuttgart and Strasbourg, instead.

Strasbourg is very nice.

Please add me to the "need ride" category.
