Welcome to FT.

There's a thread somewhere asking how elites prefer to be addressed by FAs. In a similar vein, should we now address Mr BagLady as Plus1?

Hmm, that's a good question. I'll have to ask. Plus1, do you have an answer?

I am not so sure about that, I hear a certain regional loves using duct tape on planes all over (not one that flies for CO, although about 3 years ago I did see s piece of duct tape on a colgan livery coco, but it has since been refurbed to normal interior standards and looks good)
and this was before I was a OP member.....and didn't earn any miles or EQM! Blasphemy.
I joined a trip or two later. And I did not know you could claim retroactive credits for flights flown.....I was a real newbie. Not like I have the boarding passes anymore.

Needless to say, I've never set foot on a Garuda airplane since!

I just flew GA on DPS-CGK on a brand new 738. GA has improved quite a bit during the last few years. Interestingly, I will be flying from Penang to Medan this summer, but on Silk Air, IIRC.

WWTBD time again, boys and girls. Going thru some old photo albums made me realize that I have an account with AAnother AAirline. I didn't think I ever had that AAcount. AAnywAAy, there's a little less than 5K miles in there, and thanks to Mary and the shopping thread, I leanred that Hilton will take AA at 2:1. Does The Box think it's worth it to buy enough miles to then have enough in the account to transfer tham away? AA is also running a 1500 bonus per 5K bought promo. Buy 5K, get 6500, and that will give me over 10K to move to HH and get 20K. FWIW, it's 27.50 per 1000. Opinions?

It's a waste :rolleyes:f m:rolleyes:ney. 5k miles is worth like $50, less if you don't even have enough to redeem for stuff other than HH points.

ConciergeMike Mar 2, 2009 12:50 pm

I figured it out. Rather than do CO for the upcoming B&N buy that I need to do, I'll do AA. It'll get me over the 5K mark and waste about 250 miles. 5K AA = 10K HH = :D

I love that the collective sneer that most of their FT population seems to think they have over the rest of society makes them an easy target. I'll probably try UA after *A goes thru and I can credit to CO. If they are as good as some reports indicate, I will happily soften my position.

Well, yeah the UA folks can be surly, but it wasn't that long ago that the CO forum was quite surly and no wrong could be done by CO. So, each camp has it's own issues.

As for the UA fliers, there is a lot of good in the airline and i'm sure those people see it. But, they are a bit over zealous, but that's ok as i'm sure some people here are as well.

At least for the CO forum, i'd say a lot portion of our hospitably could directly be related to our moderators...

I don't mean to insert words, but I'm fairly certain that monitor's hatred is much more experience-based, what with him having been a US status guy for so long and inevitably ending up on their planes much more than I have.

I'm not really surprised there. It's no secret that they take care of their own far more then others, so as a US *G, it doesn't really matter, you could be a plebian. But, then agian, just about every airline does this. I can think of a few instances on US and AF where my status didn't mean anything.

Mesa, shudder. I feel you there. As for the ICC, it can also be a god sent. What other airline has a department that will willingly break routing rules to give you what you want? :D

You're right on the lack of consistency. I find UA to be either really bad, or really great. Lately my flights have been on the better side, and honestly, the last three UA aircraft I've been on were amazingly clean. There are still things about them I'm not a huge fan of, but overall, I don't find them to be absolutely horrible. I was pleasantly surprised that my recent flights to/from LHR in E+ weren't bad at all. The food left a lot to be desired, but it was coach. That's to be expected back there. It certainly beat the pants off 31" pitch in CO Y, and the seat on our refurbished 763 flight returning home was quite comfortable.

That's UA. I remember reading your post about them not retrofitting the bins in the back and saw on Thursday first hand. Typical UA, but then again, my understanding is they are pretty tight on $$ for the refurbs to begin with and had to cut some things, likely overhead bins in the back.

The food on UA is definitely sub-par, even in C and F. In my case I was on a $600 ticket that I used two SWUs to be in C. If I had to pay $10 for decent food before my flight, i'm ok with that. :)

With UA they have a lot more FA bases and that makes a huge difference on the level of service. I've found the LHR, NYC and LAX bases are some of the best groups. Just like CO's, now defunct, LAX base used to have some of the best FAs.

So this is a completely random post. Jess, who a good number of you met at the DO, has very strange dreams from time to time and last night was no different. She gave me permission to post it here since I think it is hilarious.

Her dream had us, the members of the Box, holding none other than LK hostage at some remote location. We forced Jess to keep feeding him soap and making demands. The demands weren't clear but LK kept replying, "NEVER! You will never get that!"...

She told me this and I started cracking up, thinking, "It has to be E+!"

Ok, that's freaking classic. I needed a good laugh.
