Haven't flown in CO Y on a transatlantic flight, but what UA served us last month on IAD-LHR-IAD wasn't all that great. My partner said what he's had on DL's transatlantic flights was far better. But I generally try to stick to the pointy end of the plane, so what do I know about long-haul food in Y?

Airline Mogul Penalty Box Private World #2

Any of you up for a second Penalty Box Private World in Airline Mogul? I'm willing to start one if we can get a few other players. Let me know below.

I think you'll get the people who couldn't get into my world, but I do know there are a few who are token-poor right now. If you want to do what I didn't and open a list in order to wait for those who need the tokens, I'll play in both of them.

Steel wool (without the soap) works best since they can't gnaw through it. We've used it for 30 years at our beach house and none has ever gotten inside.

Hummm, interesting, glad I hadn't left yet and checked out FT again, I am about to head out now.

Sounds good. That's why I'm waiting to create the world until we get several people interested in participating.

^ I think this thinking. Why suffer through crap when you can get generally decent food at the other end. Wow putting it this way, decent food must cost thousands more, but really if I am going to be in a flying tube for 10+ hours I want it to be not in suffering status.

If I just wanted to torture myself I could do it for less than any TATL or longhaul Y.

Same here; Air Rolleyes is fully capable of existing in two dimensions. :D

As a hockey team, no - the others are better but there's always been that psychological thing between them and the Rangers.

Also interesting - I know that Marty's got three Cups and that he's now number 1 in regular season wins, but look how badly his numbers stack up against Patrick in post-season play. When you consider that the team has only missed the playoffs once since '94, his numbers are crap. Don't misunderstand, I think he's great but there's always going to be the question of his postseason performance.

OMG, three posts for me in the Box in one day. What's the world coming to. I remember that I had a higher post count than you did before you started Boxing last year.

We had a FUN travel day yesterday. Normally we fly early mornings to miss the afternoon mess at EWR but we had a 4:30 afternoon departure on CO51 EWR-IAH. CO swapped equipment from a 762 to a 753 for more seats, more on that too come. We got through security an went to the club to get new seats which were OK since I knew we weren't getting EUA's (we were 9 & 10 on the list with F full). Then we started with a 20 min delay - awaiting inbound A/C. That ended up as a 50 min delay closing the door and then another 10 before we pushed back. The only reason we got going at all was the leaad FA finally announcing that the flight was full and yes - lots of people had the duplicate seat assignments - no there weren't rows K or L on this plane and if you wanted to get going, take any empty seat. Having realized that we were going to have a tight connection at IAH, I swapped seats and the GA screwed up (another long story) and we ended up 10 rows apart, with NOLAlady at the door and me in back.

It only gets better. Then we shot a missed approach at IAH. The Captain announced that there was an issue with the runway. To me, it looked like the issue was that we were at about 500' when we crossed the threshold too hot. That resulted in our getting to the gate just under 1:20 late and leaving us with a 38 minute connection. At least it was from C-14 to C-41. As we were taxiing to the gate I called NOLAlady on my cell phone and told her to head for C-41, check with the GA, that I'd meet her there and to check about EUA's. An aside, we were 1 & 2 on the USL at OLCI with 3 out of 20 occupied on a 739. When we were taxiing in at IAH we were still 1 & 2 but 17 of 20 wwere occupied. I also didn't want to lose our exit row at the 15 min mark. When I finally got off the plane and over to the gate, she proudly waved our new boarding passes at me. Then we took a 40 minute delay waiting for a crew. Another funny aside. A 40ish woman pushed her way through people onto the blue carpet. When the GA started boarding FC she was blocking the way and didn't move but said "Oh, I'm not First Class, I'm only Elite." as 20 of us worked our way around her. NEVER A TRUER STATEMENT WAS UTTERED !!! I did catch her eye and wave as she walked past me when she finally boarded. Once we took off everything got really good. We had a nice lightening show all the way fom IAH to MSY. We landed OK and ended up at the C Concourse due to full gates at D. Got a new rental car which still had temporary plates and under 500 miles and a parking spot right down the street from our place (that's unusual on a Friday night in the French Quarter).

All-in-all, another CO experience.

What a line - "Oh, I'm not First Class, I'm only Elite."

Edit: I'm really tempted to give that quote a thread and life of it's own

I haven't looked at the postseason numbers - will do that first chance I get.

And yes, that is a great line. Plenty of ways to use that in veiled references to people in certain fora who embody that line in more ways than they will ever know.

Thank you very much. As for feeling like a dwarf, I didn't feel that way until I saw the photo from our after the DO breakfast. Boy do I look petite next to you. :p Love it.

It rains every day in HNL, usually only on one side of the street. Unless there is some storm out in the Pacific consider the rain a blessing as it might drop the temp one degree. Have no worries you will be hot, sweaty and get a nasty sunburn every day that you are there. Don't be like most tourist and forget to use sunblock on the back of your knees, the top of your feet if you're wearing flip flops (also known as jap slaps, zoris or slippas in Hawaii) and around your ears and neck.
