I can only conclude that UA gives more latitude to the front line staff to address issues and concerns, than CO does.

That's a very good point. I think that CO has taken away just about any empowerment from the agents since the departure of Bethune.

UA agents can and will bend rules when they realize it makes sense. CO's won't until the official letter is handed down from the almighty.

FYI there's currently a HUP on UA in the TPA-ONT market. $550ish out the door for a r/t and books into F.

If you feel like trekking up to JFK you can score F on PS plus get IFL access in JFK as well as SFO (and the SFO IFL is very decent.)

Hope that helps someone...and obviously please don't go posting this in the MR forum.

How many UA miles on this? I have been thinking about going for status on them...

Not really, you just haven't spoken to the right agent. Find someone who's been around awhile.

For the record I think, the segments that book into Y, TPA-IAD,IAD-JFK only earn 1x on BD.

In my experience that is not true. All of my flights that i've done on a single cabin aircraft with a F fare, i've gotten F credit for.

Yeah. Lots of it. And we're going to be in the jungle, so that should help, too. I have it with me and just forgot to put it in my camera bag as we left the hotel. Big mistake.

As for where to stay, we're at the Courtyard and it is OK but not really in the center of things. The Marriott is closer to restaurants and the old city and stuff. You basically end up paying a few extra bucks in cab fare because of it. On the plus side, there is a ginormous shopping mall at this hotel that has many restaurants inside, including a branch of Bistro 10 ($10 meals supposedly) which we looked for tonight by the Marriott and couldn't find. It is now on the short list of options for tomorrow. If you rent a car the extra couple miles to get to the city area isn't too bad. You can always use the free valet parking at the Marriott and go from there; we did tonight and it was fine. There are lots of other hotels, too, but that should give you some ideas on the areas.

Oh, and ours was $268 a/i. :p

Ok, but after the GA and the people at the service center, who is left?

~26K at 300% credit, depending on the routing chosen.

Yeah, same here. That is why I assume we only get 1x credit.

I think he meant status on UA , in which case the Double EQMs could apply.

x2 for the double EQMS.

1,100 for 1K status, that is really good.

Well, I'll say there are exceptions, and I didn't mean anything negative towards yourself. But rarely at the hubs and definitely not on the phone. The agents in SFO, SAN and LAX have always been great. The outstations are generally great and helpful.

Over the last few years i've seen the caliber of EWR agents go up and the caliber of the IAH agents go down. It's really kind of sad.

I've had RCC agents help me out on a number of things where if I asked for similar help at a P club, i'd get a big fat

I've had UA open up inventory on a flight because i needed to get on it, CO would never do that. They'll just tell me i need to fly two days from now when they have a seat.

And the phone agents are a whole other story. The Elite "desk" is rarely helpful and I have started to avoid it at all costs.
