They probably offer a great deal because they need to find a way to get people to visit that miserable city.
In other news, my plans to travel with just a backpack and camera bag have failed. If I wasn't going to take my laptop then it would work no problem. I only have a small point'n'shoot camera, so don't have to worry about all the fancy-schmancy camera equipment that you guys carry. Have a great time in HNL. Don't worry about the cockroaches, they are your friend :p |

IN other news, I have a friend going to Milian and Rome this summer on Delta (hey flights were free) and I told her she needs to sign up for Delta FF as she should make Silver with them.
I was talking to a friend of mine from grad school; we were in the same choir, which did a LOT of touring (particularly international), all on the school's dime obviously...She's now teaching in GA and is taking one of her groups to perform in NYC next weekend...and I made a comment about "more free miles is never bad" and she said: "Oh, I really should sign up for one of those frequent flier accounts, shouldn't I...I've never had one." This from someone who's been going to France, Mexico, Amsterdam, all over the US, etc. on someone else's dime... Wow. And I thought I was fairly ignorant about all of this. |

yup, the laptop will do it. I have my regular work laptop, and then I bought a little HP Mini to take to Oz with me in January. It's really lightweight, and works well. I like it. I take it on MRs with me and it fits into my backpack along with all the other c%@p that I carry.

Yes, mine fits into a decent sized purse. Light and easy to carry around. Wouldn't want to use it for work, though, but for traveling and accessing the internet it's perfectly adequate. |
Just finished the F1 race. Quite a race. Quite a race.

Now, if the rest of the season plays out with this kind of drama... Or are the guys with the red cars going to pout and threaten Bernie till they start winning? Edit: Forgot to add, I wonder how many Honda execs are hanging their heads today. Dump the team because they can't perform and they win right out of the box... |

I think Honda is happy to be done with the expense of F1 right about now. I know they're funding a lot Brawn's efforts this year, but they'll save a lot until the economy gets back its feet and they'll get back in the game when the sport will be a whole lot cheaper. I would have sure liked to have seen Kubica penalized for that bonehead move. Vettel was robbed. |
another day another new route.

I know I need to read more and do the multi quote thing more instead of reading and quoting ;) but I have had good luck with phone agents. I won't go into specifics on here but without asking they went out of their way a couple of times without me asking which amazed me. I was shocked. It was unexpected and greatly appreciated which has cemented my loyalty with CO. They aren't all perfect but I've had some really great ones. Now some I have to ask to get creative, but others really look for solutions. Yes, Pclubs - again, some are great; some are not (even at IAH, some are great, some are not - EWR, it gets even smaller).
Sure United's biz model is a bit skewed, but when removing the factor of their flaws, they do handle ops very well and they do treat their 1Ks wonderfully. Having been both a Prem and Prem Exec, i know it's not as nice, but it's not terrible either. I give CO lots of credit for listening but I get upset that they resist any solution or request that is outside of their plan. It's one thing to admit you're bad at something and it's another to actually do something about it. |

That's one of the reasons I LOVE my new blackberry - I can go places without having to haul my laptop. Mostly we're talking about day/overnight trips, or gigs where I'm already toting instrument, equipment, and all manner of other unwieldy stuff, though. I'm thinking about a netbook though - those could probably even fit in a large purse! :)
